Nenagh.ie are hosting their inaugural 10K run on Sunday 13th of October. All proceeds from the event are been given to this year’s chosen charity - Aras Mhuire Day Care Centre, Nenagh.
Áras Mhuire Day Care Centre, Nenagh, opened in 1987 and for the past 26 years has been providing a magnificent service to the people of Nenagh and district.
The aim of the Centre is to promote the well being of the elderly and younger adults with special needs, by providing such services as: Nursing Care, Jacuzzi, Chiropody, Hairdressing, Massage, Vibrating relaxation chair, Laundry, Personal Hygiene, and regular activities like Bingo, Art and Craft, Singsongs, Reading Newspapers, Exercises, Weekly Mass and much more besides.
Those who operate the Day Care Centre strive to enhance the quality of life for visitors, helping to reduce loneliness and avoid the risk of malnutrition. The day care centre compliments the services of carers and public health nurses.
Anne Hassett, Manager of Aras Mhuire, was delighted to hear about the fundraising event saying, “The raised money will go directly towards outings and extra activities like flower arranging and art classes, that we currently cannot afford.”
The 10k race will start and finish from McDonagh Park GAA grounds, with runners and walkers under starters orders at 10:30 am sharp.
To register for the race please log on to nenagh.ie. Online registration costs €15 + €1 booking fee and closes on Friday 11th October. Alternatively you can register in Adsmart on Saturday 12th between 2-4 or on the morning between 9-10 for €20. The first 200 entrants registered will receive a FREE high visibility dry fit running T-shirt so be sure to register very soon!
Each entrant will receive a medal to signify their participation in the event. All Runners/Walkers will be given a number and timing chip on the morning to monitor their performance. It is Nenagh’s first timed 10k run/walk and is expected to gather a large crowd from around the county of experienced and novice runners alike. Participants will be glad to know it is a flat 10k route, with fast running times expected. If you don’t want to participate in the run/walk, but would still like to help, we are looking for volunteers to act as marshals on the route. If this is something you wouldn’t mind helping with, please call 067 44444 to speak to Marie/Louisa.
