Nenagh.ie 10K - Sunday October 12th 2014

The Nenagh.ie 10K will take place on Sunday October 12th 2014. The Nenagh.ie 10K is a 10K Run or Walk event to raise funds for the Horse Riding for the Disabled Nenagh Branch. It will Start and Finish at the Nenagh GAA Grounds (MacDonagh Park) and will get underway at 10.30am. Registration on the morning of the event will take place between 8:45 and 9:45AM at a cost of €20. However Online Registration will cost €15 + €1 registration fee. The first 200 entrants will receive a free high visibility Dri Fit running vest. All entrants will receive a number and timing chip.

On The Day Registration

Nenagh.ie 10K - Sunday October 12th 2014

Registration on the morning of the event will begin at 9.15am at a cost of €20. However Online Registration will cost €15 + €1 registration fee. The first 200 entrants will receive a free high visibility Dri Fit running vest. All entrants will receive a number and timing chip. If you are registering on the morning of the event please come early to avoid disappointment.

Race Information

Sunday October 12th @ 10.30am sharp

Starting at 10.30am sharp at Nenagh GAA Grounds (MacDonagh Park). Please gather at Nenagh GAA Grounds (MacDonagh Park) at 9.30am if you need to register. For safety reasons, it is critical this event starts at 10.30am sharp as stewarding will take place on the route.

Route Directions

0 km - Route Start, outside first gate at McDonagh Park. Continue north-west on St. Conlan's Road towards Clonaslee
0.69 km – At cross roads, turn left towards Springfort Meadows (Dark Road) Continue straight onto Springfort Meadows
2.08 km – Turn right on to Limerick Road R445
3.83 km – At Limerick Rd Roundabout turn right onto N52 Continue forward on this path, passing through Portroe Rd Roundabout and Dromineer Rd Roundabout
7.28 km – Follow path to the right at Borrisokane Rd Round about onto R497 & continue straight until Tesco Roundabout
8.09 km – Turn right at roundabout towards St. Joseph's Park and continue straight towards Dromin Road
8.49 km – At Top of this road turn cross the road and turn left onto O’Rahilly Street
8.69 km – Turn right onto Ormond Keep (after Boys National School and before the Library)
9.14 km - Continue straight until T junction where you meet St. Conlons Road again.
9.59 km - Enter the roundabout
9.84 km - Turn right onto St. Conlan's Road
9.90 km - Turn Left into McDonagh Park and continue straight to Finish Line.
10.0 km - Finish Line under Arch on Hurling Pitch

4 Week Training Plan

For all you beginners out there, if you’ve just signed up for the Nenagh.ie 10k, and are worried about not having enough training done, fear not you still have time to get ready for your race. This training program is designed for beginner runners who want to build up to running a 10K in about four weeks times. This schedule is for beginners, but also for beginners who are already a little bit active say involved in some form of fitness activity at least twice a week and can already run 3 miles! This programme will get you across the 6.2 mile line in one piece.

CT = Cross Train = swimming, fast walking, yoga, biking or any other activity that you like
ER = Easy Run = nice and slow pace that is comfortable enough to be able to talk if you have someone running with you.

Week 1:
Day 1: 30 min CT or Rest
Day 2: 2 miles ER
Day 3: 30 min CT or Rest
Day 4: 2 miles ER
Day 5: Rest
Day 6: 3 miles LR
Day 7: 2 miles brisk walk or Rest

Week 2:
Day 1: 30 min CT or Rest
Day 2: 2.5 miles ER
Day 3: 30 min CT or Rest
Day 4: 2.5 miles ER
