Classic movie season begins with ‘Citizen Kane’ at Nenagh Arts Centre this Thursday evening

Regarded as being the greatest film of all time, Orson Welles 1941 film ‘Citizen Kane’ is being screened as the first of this years ‘movie classics’ at Nenagh Arts Centre this Thursday, 3rd October at 8 p.m.

Speaking this week, Arts Centre manager, Brendan Maher said: “We are screening number of great films this season and we are starting off with one of the best - ‘Citizen Kane’. We wanted to show it, as it’s not very often on television and we think it will look great on the big screen.

While it was made in the early 1940’s, it’s still a very contemporary story about a media magnate Charles Foster Kane who is control of a number of newspapers.  The film looks at his business dealings and his private life and how his early childhood shaped and affected his life. It was lovingly shot and it features a number of striking cinematic innovations that really bring out its power as a film.

This is a great opportunity to see it in all its glory and I would encourage people to come along. It would be two hours very well spent!”

Tickets are €8 on the door. The film screens at Nenagh Arts Centre, this Thursday 3rd October at 8 p.m.
