TIPPTOBERFEST AT CLONMEL PARK HOTEL
A final reminder to all our supporters that the inaugural TIPPTOBERFEST takes place this coming weekend from Friday October 25 to 28.. The spectacular Arena at the Clonmel Park Hotel will be the venue for TIPPTOBERFEST which will provide valuable financial assistance towards training costs for all Tipperary Teams taking to the field in 2014. On Friday October 25, the Tipp Fight night takes place featuring Tipperary club GAA players from hurling, camogie and ladies football. Tickets purchased in advance cost €20 while those purchased on the night cost €25. On Saturday October 26 Nathan Carter will be in concert with special guests Louise Morrissey and Marty Daniels. Tickets cost €25. On Sunday October 27, there will be a Feast of Irish Folk featured the Furey Brothers and Davey Arthur and also Johnny McEvoy, Jimmy Crowley and Stokers Lodge and Denis Allen. Tickets cost €25. There are two events on Bank Holiday Monday, October 28. In the afternoon, there will be Monster Bingo with a guaranteed cash payout of a massive €15,000. Single books cost €20 with a double costing €25 and a free jackpot sheet in each book. On Monday evening, the Céilí Mór featuring the Johnny Reidy Ceili Band takes place. Tickets cost €10. Tickets for all the pre-bookable events can be purchased at Lar na Pairce Thurles (0504 22702) or at the Clonmel Park Hotel. Please book early to avoid disappointment or contact Lar na Pairce or the Hotel for more information. Tickets for the boxing are also available through GAA clubs. Corporate entertainment is also available at the event with table of 10 ringside seats available for €500. A 4 course meal is included. Individual tickets for the corporate function can be purchase at €50 each.
RETIREMENT OF BRENDAN CUMMINS
Tipperary County Board would like to thank Brendan Cummins for his wonderful contribution to Gaelic Games in Tipperary and nationally following the announcement of his retirement from inter-county hurling last week. Brendan represented the county at all levels of hurling and football in a career spanning over 20 years. During that time he won 2 All-Ireland senior hurling medals, 5 Munster SH medals, 4 National League medals and an All-Ireland Under-21 medal in 1995. Brendan was part of the Tipperary Senior Hurling panel from 1993 to his retirement in 2013. He was selected as goalkeeper on the 2000, 2001, 2003, 2008 and 2010 All-Star teams and won man of the match in the 2001 National Hurling League final.
Brendan always represented Tipperary with great pride, passion and ability and his singular commitment to the highest standards of preparation was instrumental to the longevity of his career and an example to all. He has set high standards for others to follow and he will always be remembered as one of the greatest players to wear the blue and gold jersey. He will also be regarded rightly as one of hurling’s greatest goalkeepers.
We would also like to acknowledge and thank Brendan’s family and in particular his wife, Pamela, for their great support of Brendan and Tipperary over the years. We wish Brendan, Pamela and their children, Paul and Sarah, every health and happiness for the future and look forward to Brendan’s continued involvement in the GAA in Tipperary.
AIB MUNSTER CLUB SH CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER FINAL
Loughmore Castleiney will play Limerick champions, Na Piarsaigh, in the AIB Munster Club championship quarter final at Semple Stadium on Sunday October 27 at 2pm. We wish Loughmore all the best for what will be their fifth ever Munster club game. They lost to Patrickswell of Limerick in the 1988 semi-final at Thurles, but beat Erins Own of Cork, Adare of Limerick and Tulla of Clare to win the 2007 Munster title. Both clubs have one Munster club title - Loughmore Castleiney in 2007 and Na Piarsaigh in 2011. Both lost at All Ireland semi-final stage to eventual winners Portumna and Loughiel Shamrocks respectively. In the club championship 9 Tipperary clubs have won a total of 12 Munster and 3 All Ireland titles. 18 Tipp clubs have played in the competition and were involved in 102 games. Tipp and Limerick clubs have met on 30 occasions in this competition with 15 wins going Tipp’s way, 10 to Limerick and 5 draws.
CLEAN IRELAND RECYCLING COUNTY SFC SEMI-FINALS
Congratulations to Aherlow Gaels and Loughmore Castleiney on qualifying for Clean Ireland Recycling county senior football championship final with one point wins over JK Brackens and Clonmel Commercials respectively. Aherlow Gaels are an amalgamation of Aherlow and Lattin-Cullen. Aherlow defeated Loughmore Castleiney in the 2010 county final. Loughmore will attempt to become the first club to achieve the double of winning the county senior hurling and football titles in the same year. They came close twice before when they won the football title in 1983 and 1987 but the lost both hurling finals to Borris-Ileigh and Cappawhite respectively. Kilruane MacDonaghs won the football in 1975 but lost the hurling final in a replay with Moneygall. The final will be played on Sunday November 3.
AIB MUNSTER CLUB INTERMEDIATE HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
Good luck to Ballina who will play Dromin-Athlacca of Limerick at 2pm in Bruff on Sunday next, October 27 in the AIB Munster Intermediate club hurling quarter final.
CLEAN IRELAND RECYCLING COUNTY MINOR HURLING FINALS
Congratulations to Nenagh Eire Og and Ballina on winning the county minor A and B finals respectively at Semple Stadium on Sunday last. Nenagh defeated Holycross Ballycahill by 3-10 to 1-15 and Ballina defeated Emly / Treacys by 3-12 to 3-10 in two highly entertaining games.

Congratulations to Ballyporeen on winning the county intermediate football title with a 1-15 to 2-8 victory over Borrisokane on Sunday last at Holycross.
CLEAN IRELAND RECYCLING JUNIOR A HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
The Clean Ireland Recycling Junior A hurling championship semi-finals played at Templemore on Saturday last resulted in a win for Moycarkey Borris over Toomevara by 0-21 to 1-13 and a draw between Knockshegowna (1-17) and Konockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams (3-11). The replay will be at Templemore on Saturday next October 26 at 3pm.
CLEAN IRELAND RECYCLING JUNIOR A FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The junior A football championship semi-finals played last weekend resulted in a 3-16 to 0-5 win for Drom and Inch over Newcastle and an 0-9 each draw between Rosegreen and Shannon Rovers. The replay will take place on Sunday next, October 27 at 12 noon in Templetuohy.
INTERMEDIATE HURLING SELECTORS STAND DOWN
The Tipperary Intermediate Hurling Management Team of Manager Michael Ryan (Fethard), Coach Michael Ferncombe (Holycross Ba;;ycahill) and selectors Sean O’Meara (Shannon Rovers) and Eamon O’Dwyer (Arravale Rovers) have stepped down after 3 years in charge. Tipperary County Board would like to thank them sincerely for their excellent contribution and in particular their success in winning 2 All Ireland and Munster titles back to back with 2 separate teams as those who played in the 2012 final were ineligible for the 2013 panel. We wish them well for the future.
In recognition of their achievements over the last 2 years the outgoing management team have been invited, together with the 2013 All Ireland Intermediate Hurling winning captain, David Young of Toomevara, to attend the New York Tipperary Hurling Club Dinner Dance on the December 7 next. The Guest of Honour that night will be Joe Grace of Silvermines who has given great service to Tipperary GAA in New York both as a player and selector having emigrated in 1985.
INTERNATIONAL RULES
Well done to the International Rules team and in particular to team selector, Seamus McCarthy of Galtee Rovers, on their victory over Australia in the first test at Breffni Park, Cavan last Saturday. We wish them luck for the second test in Croke Park this coming Saturday, October 26 at 7pm. It will be preceded by a Shinty international between Ireland and Scotland at 4.15pm.
NEW GAELIC FOOTBALL RULES
All football referees in the county are reminded that a meeting on the roll out of the new Football rules which will take effect from next year will be held in Thurles Sarsfields Centre on Thursday night November 14 2013 at 8pm. All football referees must attend this meeting to ensure they understand clearly the new rules and the interpretation of same. The new rules were approved by GAA Congress 2013 and with the main change being the introduction of a “black card” for cynical fouls.
SYMPATHY
Tipperary County Board would like to extend its deepest sympathy to the wife and family of Enda McDonnell and the Ladies Gaelic Football Association following the death of Enda last week. Enda McDonnell was President of Munster Ladies Gaelic Football President and Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football PRO and also served as Chairman of Tipperary Ladies Gaelic Football from 2007 to 11. His son Fearghal served as a selector for the Tipperary minor footballers when they won the All Ireland and Munster titles in 2011. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam uasal.
