ALL-IRELAND SENIOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
Four remain in the hunt for the Liam MacCarthy Cup with Tipperary safely among the quartet following a 2-25 to 1-18 win over Laois in last Sunday's All Ireland SHC Quarter Final. Both goals were first half strikes, the first a penalty from Jason Forde (Silvermines), with Seamus Callanan (Drom & Inch) following up in trademark fashion for the second.
A run out in Croke Park at this time of the year is always a welcome addition and Sunday's visit will have afforded the team the opportunity to familiarise themselves once again with the wonderful venue, as they look forward to an All-Ireland semi-final showdown with Leinster champions Wexford. That game goes ahead on Sunday week, July 28th with a 3:30pm start. In terms of championship rivalry there has been 11 games played between Tipperary and Wexford, with Tipp on 7 wins to 3 for Wexford and 1 draw completing the total.
In what will be the penultimate weekend in the hurling calendar, the focus is solely on the Wexford game. This is where Tipperary supporters will be most needed to play their part. With Wexford supporters expected to travel in huge numbers, Tipp needs their supporters to match that and get behind their side on the day. With just two hurling championship weekends left, the team need all the support they can get to help them in their quest to hopefully be a part of both occasions.
Tickets are now available for that fixture on gaa.ie/tickets and selected Centra/SuperValu stores. Best wishes to Patrick Maher (Lorrha-Dorrha) for a full recovery as he undergoes corrective treatment this Tuesday for his recent knee injury which has ruled him out of action until next year.
MUNSTER U20 HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
The attention turns towards the Bord Gais Energy Munster U20 Hurling Championship Final which will be played in Semple Stadium on next Tuesday evening, 23rd July when Tipperary will take on Cork in what is a repeat of last year's U21 provincial decider. Throw-in will be 7:30pm.
The Rebels will provide formidable opposition as they did when the sides met on two unforgettable occasions in 2017 at minor level. The first was a drawn semi-final thriller after extra time in Semple Stadium before Cork edged the replay in Páirc Uí Rinn to progress to the final.
There were 35 meetings between Tipp and Cork in the now retired U21 grade, with Tipp in the ascendency on 17 wins to Cork’s 15, while there was also 3 draws. Last year at the final U21 provincial decider, Tipp were out of sorts as Cork claimed the title. Liam Cahill and his management team will want no similar lapse this year, so an enthralling contest is in prospect.
Best wishes to the team and management on Tuesday and let’s hope Tipp can start off the U20 grade roll of honour as successfully as they did in the old.
The referee will be Thomas Walsh (Waterford). Extra time if necessary and result on the day.
Adult pre-purchase tickets are €10 and adult matchday are €15. Student/OAP concessions - €5 off on the day with the appropriate ID. Under 16’s go free.
Tickets are now available for now via tickets.ie and participating Centra & SuperValu outlets.

TEAM TIPPERARY GAA RACE DAY
The Team Tipperary GAA Race Day at the Galway Races is on Monday, July 29th and is the fifth Galway Races venture continuing very successful outings for the past 4 years.
The Galway Races Summer Festival is renowned as a premier and most colourful racing festival. While it is a major sporting event, it also appeals to a much wider audience than just the racing fans. With the Killanin Stand Suites, there is something for everyone whether you are entertaining family, friends or business clients. This is the ideal format for mixing business with pleasure, whilst surrounded by the atmosphere and excitement that is the Galway Races.
Past fundraising from the Galway Race Day has gone towards the completion of astro turf and floodlighting on the hurling wall in Dr. Morris Park in 2017 and new car parking facilities catering for 120 cars at the same venue in 2018.
Development plans for 2019 and onwards are in progress and the Team Tipperary GAA Race Day is now firmly established as a successful fundraising venture.
The planning application has been submitted for new facilities in the Kinane (Old) Stand as part of the Centre of Excellence adjacent to Dr. Morris Park and we await approval. Plans for extension and revamping of dressing rooms in Dr. Morris Park are currently being prepared for planning and it is hoped that work will commence before the end of 2019. With planning permission granted Tipperary GAA in partnership with LIT await grant approval for the new all-weather pitch on their Thurles Campus. Great work done and much more to do, all thanks to the tremendous support of our patrons.
If you or anyone you know is interested in racing, or just a good day out and who might take a seat or two or a table and support our fundraising efforts, please contact Tim Floyd, County Secretary, 087 2591747 firstname.lastname@example.org for bookings and further details.
