Success for Slattery in Carlow Stages Rally

Puckane’s Andrew Slattery continued his 2014 Dunlop Irish National Rally Championship crusade with a convincing win on the tricky Seven Oaks Hotel Carlow Stages Rally last weekend. Slattery and co-driver Andrew Browne emerged from the 9 stage event as convincing winners of class 6 in their Peugeot 208 R2 and finished a very credible 29th overall amongst much more powerful machinery.

Andrew plans to contest the remaining rounds of the popular Dunlop series in his Peugeot 208 R2 so a good result in Carlow was crucial having narrowly missed out on class honours on the last round in Kerry. Andrew takes up the story: “To come within a handful of seconds of a class win in Kerry was encouraging and frustrating at the same time but it gave the team a great platform to build on for the season ahead. I’m delighted to take the class 6 win in Carlow this weekend. It was a very difficult rally with the weather changing constantly, but to win the class is a great feeling and I’m really looking forward to the next round now.”

The next round of the championship for Andrew and the Peugeot 208 R2 is the Circuit of Munster which is based out of Limerick and will take place on the first of June. After his Carlow win, Andrew is now tied at top of class 6 championship standings with fellow Peugeot 208 R2 driver, Richard Tannahill. Andrew would like to thank all of his sponsors and you can follow the exploits of the team throughout the season by liking the Peugeot Total Ireland Rally Team Page on Facebook or by following Andrew on Twitter @andyslattery86.

Andrew competes in Association with Finol, Peugeot Sport and Slattery's Garage.
