Loughrea was the venue last Sunday for the first race of the cycling season. The Visit Nenagh.ie team appeared with all racing members for a cold and windy start on the Galway roads. It was new member of the team Chris Jeuken who was best placed in the 85km main race.
Dutch born Chris, from Scarriff made a solid debut as senior in the Nenagh.ie backed team. He was part of a nine man breakaway group, and the only A3 rider that broke loose from the peloton half way through the race. It was Paddy Clarke (Liquidworx ) who grabbed the victory, leaving Dermot Radford in second and Danny Bruton in third. Chris Jeuken's legs were spent after 85 km, bringing the Nenagh.ie jersey home in 7th. Gary McDonald was next up in 11th, while newly signed A1 rider Mark Shannon came home in 20th place.
Next Sunday, March 2nd the team will appear in Navan for the Cycleways GP.
