Redevelopment of Male Medical Ward in Nenagh Hospital

It is being reported that the Male Medical Ward in Nenagh Hospital is to undergo  a major redevelopment. The renovation project will see a combination of a new build and also renovation of the existing facilities to meet required standards.

The project is to be co-funded by the HSE and the Friends of Nenagh Hospital and is due for completion by the end of 2015. The male medical ward currently houses 21 beds, consisting of one single room, one two bed, one four bed, one six bed and one eight bed room.

Tipperary TD Noel Coonan stated "In order to address the concerns raised a submission was made to the National Capital Approval process to renovate the existing ward and provide 16 single rooms with sanitary facilities and a day room. Approval was received just prior to Christmas 2013.  This renovation project will not create additional inpatient capacity but it will however, see a combination of a new build and also renovation of the existing facilities to meet the required standards," said Deputy Coonan.

Deputy Coonan went on to add "This is positive news for the management, staff, patients and associated families of Nenagh General Hospital. Any upgrade or creation of facilities at this establishment are welcome and I want to compliment the staff of Nenagh Hospital for their continued dedication to the provision of excellent services,"
