Positive Ageing in Nenagh

In recognition of the UN International Day for Older People at the beginning of October, and nationwide festivities to mark positive ageing, a group of Nenagh folks have got together again to organize a Celebration of Mass followed by a Tea Dance.

Marie Ryan, Richmond and colleagues are organizing the event for the second year in a row. Mass will be held at 14:00 at the Abbey Court Hotel, and will be followed with music from the wonderful Martin Grace. There will be tea and scones on hand in the Abbey Court’s ballroom, sponsored by local company Home Instead. The event is free of charge.

The aim of the National Positive Ageing Festival is to encourage people to recognise that we are living longer than ever before, and that this demographic shift presents both opportunity and challenge. As well as celebrating the contribution older people have made in our communities, there is also a need for older people to think about how they will maintain their quality of life as they age, and to set goals and make plans to achieve this.

Socialising and exercising are key parts to anyone’s successful ageing, hence everyone has a great reason to come to the Dance. We look forward to seeing you on the 15th Oct 2014 at 14:00 in the Abbey Court Hotel, and again there is no entrance fee. Dancing shoes optional! For more information call Michael Wright on 083 3581304.
