Nenagh.ie Shop Local A Huge Success For Local Nenagh Businesses

The pre Christmas Nenagh.ie ‘Shop Local Win Big’, €4,000 competition proved to be a huge success for local Nenagh businesses. It finished on Friday December 20th. Cllr. Virginia O’Dowd drew the winning ticket in the company of Minister Alan Kelly, Marcus O’Connor (Nenagh Town Manager), Louisa Duff (Nenagh.ie), Laura Sherlock (Nenagh.ie) and under the supervision of Garda Seamus Kelly.

The lucky winner, Emma Fogarty from Nenagh, was presented with her prize by Louisa Duff (Nenagh.ie). The €4,000 was made up of €3,000 worth of €50 vouchers from participating Nenagh.ie member stores and €1,000 in cash from Nenagh.ie.

€400k windfall for local businesses
This exciting competition was the first of its kind in Nenagh. For every €10 spent by a customer in a participating Nenagh.ie member store they received one Nenagh.ie loyalty sticker. Ten stickers had to be collected to fill the loyalty card and enter the competition. There was approximately 4,000 entries which would indicate an estimated spend of €400,000 in participating Nenagh.ie member stores in the three weeks of the duration of the competition.

Local businesses were extremely positive and happy with the outcome of the promotion. With Peter Ward (Country Choice) saying “The campaign by Nenagh.ie to promote local shopping proved very successful”. Michael Cleary (JKC’s Toymaster) said “Business for us was up 5-7% on last year, the last ten days up to Christmas were really good. I think the promotion run by Nenagh.ie to get people to shop local was a contributing factor in our success”.
