The Inaugural Nenagh.ie 10k took place last Sunday, 13th October. A larger than anticipated crowd of over 330 participants took part in the event both running and walking. The event was run in Aid of Áras Mhuire Day Care Centre, Nenagh.
Áras Mhuire Day Care Centre, Nenagh, opened in 1987 and for the past 26 years has been providing a magnificent service to the people of Nenagh and district.
Anne Hassett, Manager of Aras Mhuire, was delighted with the turn out for the event and went on to say; “All proceeds will go directly towards outings and extra activities like flower arranging and art classes, that we currently cannot afford.”
The 10k race started and finished from McDonagh Park GAA grounds, with runners and walkers under starters orders at 10:30 am sharp.
Marie Ryan from Nenagh.ie was delighted with how the event went; “ We are thrilled that so many turned out to support the event and support Nenagh Day Care Centre. We did not expect so many, and it is testament to the good will of the people of Nenagh and surrounding areas”.
Marie Ryan went on to add; “ This was the first year of the event and we have learned so much from organising it. We wish to make this an annual event and next year we will set the bar even higher”.
The organisers wanted to say that participants who did not receive a medal on the day that they will be sent one or can collect it from Adsmart in the coming weeks.
