Nenagh Walking Club Notes 22-10-2014

The Club’s next Sunday hike on Sunday 26th October shall  to Moylussa in the Slieve Bernagh range Co. Clare.  (532 meters/1,745 ft).  We shall depart from Kenyon Street Car Park at 11.00 am or meet up in Two-Mile Gate at 11.30 to commence our 2.5/3 hour hike.  We will be rewarded with spectacular views of Lough Derg, Killaloe and the surrounding countryside from the summit.  Please note Moylussa can be very boggy at this time of the year so good footwear is essential.   Further details on this event can be obtained by contacting Walk Leader Paddy Seymour on 086 8562444.

A number of Nenagh Club Members joined a group of 160 from Mid Tipp Hillwalkers on their 17th Annual Charity Challenge event in Westport, Co. Mayo. As usual this was a very enjoyable weekend.  As well as a social programme Hikers enjoyed a huge range & variety of hikes, including Croach Patrick & Mweelrea.

Mid-Tipp Hillwalkers are having a reunion event on Friday October 31st in Upperchurch , starting with a captivating Halloween Night Walk by moonlight which is open to all and leaves from outside Upperchurch Commuinty Centre at 7 pm.  After this event cheques from the proceeds of the Westport weekend will be presented to worthy causes in Kinanes pub.

Nenagh Walking Club Members will be participating in the Upperchurch Walking Festival which runs from the 7th – 9th November.   Further details of the weekends programme can be viewed on www.upperchurch.ie.

The Club’s Annual General Meeting shall take place on Thursday 6th November at 8.00 pm in the Hi-B.  We would urge as many Members as possible to attend this Meeting as we would like to get your input into planning our Programme of Events for the Winter/Spring.

Our Tuesday evening walks continue over the Winter months & shall be along the By-pass  - departing from Tesco Car Park 7.30 pm sharp. This is a great opportunity for Members to keep up their fitness level over the winter months.  Please wear a high-vis vest.   If you are interested in joining this group please contact Walk Leader Paddy Seymour on 086 8562444.

Details of our Programme can be viewed on our website nenaghwalk.ie.
