Nenagh Walking Club Notes 07-10-2013

On Sunday 13th October the Club will be traveling to participate in the Nire Valley Walking Festival which is based in the heart of the Comerage Mountains, Waterford.  Members will enjoy the variety of natural beauty in the Nire Valley and the Comeragh Mountains from its awesome corrie lakes, to the valleys and the cascading streams.  

There is a choice of 2 graded walks as following:-

B Walk 5 hours Coumshingaun 13kms
Starting at the Nire Layby, this walk will head to the Gap and climb Carrignagower, pass along the cliffs of the Boola lakes and cross the platean to Coumshingaun, returning via the Seanbheanaphiobaire waterfall overlooking the Sgillogues.
Height Gain: 600mts approx  Walk Start: 10.00am
Registration at the Nire Hall 9.30 – 10.00am

C Walk 4 hours. Archaeological Sites
Starting at the Nire Church, taking in the Dinny’s Hill, Toureen Bronze Age sites, Knockavannia Hill and old village, finishing at Mulcahy’s oratory in Kilkeany.
Height Gain: 311mts Walk Start: 11.00am
Registration at the Nire Hall 10.30am to 11.00am

Our Programme for the day is as follows:
Bus from Kenyon Street at 07.45am sharp.
Arrive Nire Valley Hall approx 09.30 for Registration for B walk cost €10 including light refreshments after walk. Register for C walk at 10.30am. Cost €10 including refreshments.
Then onto the Brian Boru in Cashel for our evening meal.

Over the winter months Members meet every Tuesday at Tesco Car Park Nenagh for a 1.5 hour brisk walk around the town by-pass. Contact Paddy 086-8562444.
