Nenagh Walking Club Notes 05/03/2014

The Club would like to thank everyone for supporting our “Bon Voyage” Evening for our Secretary, Noel O’Meara as he embarks on a year’s Career Break to Swaziland to undertake Voluntary Work.

On Sunday 23rd February Members enjoyed an exhilarating hike up Moylussa which is the highest point in the Slieve Bearnagh. This hike was ably led by Cyril McLoughlin.  A group also embarked on climbling Carrauntuohill this weekend, I am sure they came across lots of snow during this adventure, looking forward to seeing the spectacular photos.

Our next Sunday outing , on Sunday 9th March, will be a flat walk in Lake Boora, Bog & Parkland – this 3 hour forest track walk will be led by John Hogan (087- 2232923).  As this is over an hour away we shall depart from Kenyon Street Car Park one hour earlier than normal, i.e. 10.00 am sharp.

We have a Club Meeting on Thursday 13th March in the Hi-B at 8.30 pm. The purpose of this Meeting is to develop a programme of walks & events over the Summer/Autumn.  We would encourage all Members to attend this Meeting as the Committee would like to endeavour to get your input on what you would like us to provide over the coming months.

Upcoming walks include:   Upperchurch 23rd March, The Blackrock loop in the Ballyhouras 6th April.

Our Tuesday evening walks along the Nenagh by-pass, approx 10k, are proving to be very popular with new Members joining the group.   These depart from Tesco Car Park at 7.30 pm.

Full details of our Spring Programme are on our website nenaghwalk.ie.
