Senior XV Update

Nenagh Ormond Senior XV secured a 15-all draw in a tough match against Queen’s University last Saturday.  Nenagh’s try scorers were Willie Coffey and Lemeki Vaipulu while Misi Salave added a conversion and a penalty.

Next up for the lads are Blackrock College in Dublin this Saturday, February 28th, at 2.30pm.

Under 14’s

Nenagh Ormond Under 14’s East Munster Cup match away to Galbally which was called off last Sunday, has been rescheduled for this Sunday, March 1st, at 11am in Galbally.

Mini Blitz

A big thanks to everyone who helped make Sunday’s Mini Blitz in Lisatunny a success.  Special word to the parents who looked after the traffic and parking, to the ladies who manned the kitchen and fed over 300 hungry souls and also cleaned up and to our own parents for providing the food.  Without all these parents volunteering these blitzes could not happen and we appreciate your help.

Under 12’s

The Under 12’s played a home blitz on Sunday morning against Cashel and Birr.  The conditions were awful with rain throughout but the players from all three clubs acquitted themselves really well and served up some great rugby.  Nenagh played Cashel first and while losing 2 tries to nil gave a really good aggressive account of themselves.  Cashel are the best team we've played all year but Nenagh never stopped carrying the ball at them and really put their defence under pressure.

Next up came Birr and Nenagh won this game 3 tries to 2 with Jack Gleeson, DJ McGrath and Eoghan Tighe getting the tries.  While we don't like picking out individuals, special mention must go to Daire Slevin who had his best game ever in the red and white.  Also Tom Kennedy and John Brislane whose work up front turning over numerous opposition ball has to be mentioned.

Under 11’s

The Under 11's had a blitz against very strong Cashel and Birr sides at a wet and windy (and muddy!) New Ormond Park on Sunday.  Conditions were very difficult for all the teams but the boys put on a very good exhibition of rugby.  The tackling was good in parts but it remains the biggest area that the young men need to work at in training in the coming weeks.

There was excellent rucking on display, especially by Joe Shanahan, Luke Conneally and Sam O'Brien.  Sean O'Callaghan had his best game in a Nenagh jersey making some excellent runs and was well supported by Charlie Cavanagh and Jack O'Flaherty.  Jamie Coyne put in some of his trademark tackles and has definitely the mantle as the team’s top tackler.  Some of our new players such as Sean Moylan, Conor Tierney and Eoin Carroll are learning the game and improving all the time.  Joseph Gleeson, Paddy Griffen, Joe Kyne and Darragh Kyne all worked very hard and performed well.

Training returns to Ballymackey next Sunday at 11.30am.  Please bring €2 for the pitch.  Many thanks to all the parents who helped out with food, in the kitchen and with the parking on the day, your efforts are very much appreciated.

Team: Joe Kyne, Paddy Griffen, Sean Moylan, Luke Conneally, Darragh Kyne, Conor Tierney, Charlie Cavanagh, Joseph Gleeson, Sam O'Brien, Joe Shanahan, Sean O'Callaghan, Eoin Carroll, Jamie Coyne, Jack O'Flaherty

Under 9’s & 10’s

We welcomed Birr RFC and Cashel RFC to a cold and rainy Lisatunny last Sunday morning.  Whilst conditions were tough all our young players had a great morning of rugby.  Because of our big numbers in training we were delighted to be able to field 3 teams, mixed between Under 9's and Under 10's.  All teams got two matches against our visitors.

In extremely mucky conditions all our young players gave it everything and were rewarded with some great tries, tackling and passing on show.  This is a great bunch of players who have improved greatly throughout the year.  Credit as usual must go to all the parents who continue to support us in such numbers.  Hopefully the washing machines and showers of North Tipperary recovered from the shock of such mucky children!

Our thanks to Birr and Cashel for a very sporting trip to Nenagh and our thanks to all who helped out with catering, parking etc.  Special thanks to our young players who turn up and give their all every week.  We will probably have a home match next Sunday, followed by an away match against UL Bohemians the following Sunday - details to follow by text.  New players (boys and girls) are always welcome - just turn up Sunday mornings and make yourself known to any of the coaches.
