Under 13s v Newport

Newport hosted Nenagh Ormond Under 13s in a friendly on Sunday morning with the match being played on the 4G surface in UL.  This proved a very useful workout for both clubs with Nenagh able to give game time to a lot of our new players with some of our more established players sprinkled through the team.

It was wonderful for both teams to get to play in such ideal conditions and this led to some great passages of play with great continuity and some lovely evasion skills on show. This game was never going to be about the score but about giving new players the opportunity to play in a structured game of rugby and to adapt both in attack and defence to the bigger space available. It also helped burn off some of the Christmas cobwebs!

A very enjoyable morning for everyone involved and for the record Nenagh scored 4 tries with DJ McGrath getting two and Jack Gleeson and PadraicHassett one each.  Paul Seymour kicked two conversions.

Panel: DaireSlevin, George O’Leary, Jack Gleeson, Cathal O’Brien, Paddy Ryan, Eoin Quinn, Evan Rainsford, John Brislane, Niall O’Sullivan, Paul Seymour, Liam Cooney, Adam Steed, Martin Ryan, Sean Williams, Patrick Quigley, Patrick Fogarty, Tom Kennedy, EoghanTighe, BartekSwitala, Tommy Ryan, Jack O’Brien, Peter Collins, DJ McGrath, PadraicHassett.
