Nenagh Ormond RFC Club Notes - 01/11/2015

Under 7s

Mini Blitz at Nenagh Ormond

Under 11s

Last Sunday Nenagh Ormond welcomed Birr RFC to a blitz in Lisatunny.  We had 22 players so we made two teams of 11 aside.  On a lovely autumn morning we played our best rugby of the season so far.  We scored loads of tries but it was the manner of our tackling and competing at the breakdown which impressed the most.

Danny Quinn gave an exhibition at ruck time on how to get over the ball and secure it for our side.  Comparisons were made with one David Pocock!Sean Ryan carried some great ball and presented it really well.   Special mention has to go to two of our newer players Jack Connolly, who scored a great try, and Sean Egan who put in a few really impressive tackles on physically bigger opponents.

Thanks to our parents who support us in such numbers and to our coaching team who have done such a fine job.  Our numbers are increasing and we now have around 26 players on our panel. There is a great team spirit in our camp, training is going well and the group has really gelled well. Training continues every Sunday morning at 10 am - new players, especially girls, are always welcome.

Under 9s

Unfortunately our visitors, Birr and Roscrea were unable to field teams at this level on Sunday.
Instead we ran a mini-tournament with four teams of eight players each and everyone enjoyed themselves in what was a brilliant day for rugby. Well done to all!

Under 8s

Nenagh Ormond Under 8’s fielded two strong teams each consisting of 11 players to take on Birr & Roscrea at Lisatunny on Sunday morning last. Birr travelled with one team whilst Roscrea had two teams.

The games which were 10 minutes a side were extremely entertaining. The players on both sides displayed some great skill in the game of full contact rugby. There were some excellent tries evident with players running into space, good running with the ball in hand, good passing of the ball, rucking and mauling all on display. The Coaches were delighted to see the skills learned in training put into practice by all involved.

Under 7s

Nenagh Ormond had a panel of 23 players at Under 7 on Sunday last at the home blitz. Two Nenagh Ormond teams, Nenagh Red and Nenagh White played both Birr RFC and Roscrea RFC.

Nenagh Whites were very impressive against good a good Roscrea team. Luke Power ran over for a number of tries. Aidan Ryan showed good passing and receiving skills for Nenagh as did TiernanMcConlon for Roscrea. Other try scorers for Nenagh were Charlie Kennedy, DarraghAluney, Cullin O'Brien and Darragh Keogh.

Nenagh Reds were also very good at running into space and passing and receiving when playing against Birr. Defence work was good with tackles (tag)made by Sam Gallahue, Oisin Gleeson, Senan O'Farrell, Cathal Grace, Jack Kennedy and Charlie Talbot for Nenagh as well as Harry O'Sullivan for Birr. Liam O'Brien Dunne and Conor O'Brien showed great evasion skills when they ran over for tries for Nenagh.

All teams had great fun in the sunshine and it was a great way to finish their mid-term break from school.
