This Weekend’s Action

The business end of the season sees both our men and our ladies in contention for silverware!

Nenagh Ormond Senior XV take on Division 1A side Young Munster at home this Friday night at 7.30pm in the final of the Cyril Fitzgerald Plate.

Nenagh Ladies travel to Dublin this Sunday for their AIL Division 2 Semi Final against Railway Union.  Kick off at 2.30pm.

Under 14’s 17-7 Kilfeacle

The Nenagh Under 14’s hosted Kilfeacle on Sunday last in the East Munster Cup on a nice spring day that was ideal for rugby.  The match started off with Kilfeacle putting on the pressure and taking a foothold in the Nenagh half and going close to the try line early on.  But then the Nenagh pack began to dominate  after that and some great carries from Steven Harding and Michael Kennedy  brought the home team up field and  a strong surge toward the visitors line saw Diarmud Boyle getting the touch down to send the home team in to a lead that they would never give up.

A few minutes later saw a bit of quick thinking from Evan Murphy when he chipped a loose ball in to space and gathered the rebound.  He raced clear to send Colum Moylan over for a try under the posts.  However the conversion was yet again proving difficult.  Then just before half time Kilfeacle put a few phases together and got over for a try which they converted to leave it 10 points to 7 at half time.

Nenagh really stepped up a gear through the forwards in the second half with Michael Bourke and Evan Murphy making serious inroads which lead to a quick backline move to put Darragh Flannery over for a try under the posts which Ben Duff converted and Nenagh were 17 pts to 7 clear.  They kept this lead and went on to win the game and put themselves in a very strong position in the cup.
