Nenagh Neptune Swim Club Notes 27-04-2015

It’s been a busy few weeks for the club with galas every weekend at the moment. We have had a good spread of swimmers qualifying for some of the bigger meets in the Munster Region recently and we also had the opportunity to get our very youngest swimmers into their first competition at a novice gala in Portlaoise – thanks Laoise Marlins. Many thanks also to Swim Ireland, the national governing body for aquatics, who do some fantastic organisational work getting the Muster graded galas together. Nenagh Neptune attended 3 galas between 21st March and 12th April.

Muster Long Course Championships – UL 21st and 22nd March

Even with the undeniably tuff qualifying times, Nenagh Neptune were represented at this gala by five of our swimmers. Competition was fierce with all of our swimmers finding the long course (50m pool) swims tiring. Congratulations goes out to Sinead and Emily who claimed personal bests on the day and particularly to Emily who knocked nearly 10 seconds off her time in the 400m freestyle – well done.

Results from the day:
50m Freestyle: Thomas Adams 27.80 sec, Isabelle Dunne 30.16, Sinead Dwyer 31.88 – 50m Back: Isabelle Dunne 34.93 -- 100m Freestyle: Thomas Adams 1:02.36 –100m Butterfly: Sinead Dwyer 1:19.04 (PB) – 200m Freestyle: Emily Ryan 2:28.60 (PB) – 200m IM: Olwyn Dunne 3.00.45, Emily Ryan 2:59.89 (PB) – 400m Freestyle: Emily Ryan 5.21.36 (PB), Olwyn Dunne 5.21.68

Munster Age Groups Division 2 – UL Arena 10thto 12th April

This gala never fails to produce some great competition every year, both between the many Munster clubs represented at the event and also between our own swimmers. This year was no exception. The rivalry definitively drove the competitive streak for the 16 Nenagh Neptune swimmers in attendance and we saw some great PBs from our swimmers who were supported on the day by coach Chris Harris.
