Sport / Club Notes

Nenagh Neptune Swim Club – 17/06/2014

Yet again the swim club have reached the end of another season with our final session being held in the Éire Óg sports complex which has served well as our home for the land based training sessions during the closure of the town pool since December. A mini awards ceremony was held where all current members were awarded with a Certificate of Participation and our new divisional swimmers were presented with their divisional t-shirts to mark their achievement. The club would like to congratulate Darren Dunne, Sinead Dwyer, Emily Ryan and Mark Ryan for achieving their Division 2 times this season. They now join our other Division 2 and Division1 swimmers Shane Cody, Isabelle Dunne, Olwyn Dunne and Thomas Adams and will continue to compete during June (Division 2) and July (Division1) before their season completes – we wish all our divisional swimmers the best of luck in their events.

The club would also like to congratulate swimmers Darren Dunne who won the 10K Blue race on Sunday (15th June) and Alex Stewart and Billy Seymour who competed on the Tetrathlon Junior National Team in the UK over the weekend of 31st May – 1st June.
2013/14 has been a tough season for all swimmers, coaches, parents and committee with the closure of the town pool, which is our regular training ground, for renovation and expansion work. To make sure that pool time was available to the swimmers, we travelled to both Roscrea and UL to take advantage of the facilities there. Our thanks go out to all involved in Roscrea Leisure Centre and the team at UL for their support during this period. Our thanks are also extended to the staff of Éire Óg for the use of their facilities for land based training and pilates sessions during this time.

Special thanks also goes out to all the parents who assisted in making sure as many swimmers as possible participated in the modified training session, particularly Lian Knight and Don O’Brien for taking on the onerous task of organising bus transport for Roscrea.
We would also like to thank the coaches in particular for their commitment during this time.

Our swim season for 2014/15 will kick off with registration night on Thursday night Sept 4th at 19:30 in the Abbey Court Hotel for existing swimmers who wish to re-register for the new season. Our first night of training will commence on Monday 8th Sept. All training schedules will be available on the club website before that date.

As is the case every year, the intake for new and lapsed swimmers will also take place during the month of September. The application form is available of our website and entries should be returned to nnscsecretary@gmail.com no later than Sept 5th 2014. Eligibility criteria for swimmers is available on the website.

Please make sure to keep an eye on www.nenaghswimclub.com for all updates concerning the club and for any information regarding plans for the 2014/15 season.
