Nenagh Kickboxing Club Notes 31/03/2014

Nenagh Kickboxing took part in the Nenagh St. Patrick’s Day Parade and had 25 kids and 5 adults performing on the day. The kids performed katas (patterns) head blocks, kick blocks and some sparring.Tthe judges on the day were very pleased with the kid’s performance and their discipline. Great fun was had on the day by students, parents and instructor Aidan Whelan.

Nenagh Kickboxing held their annual grading in the Martial Arts Centre, Nenagh on Sunday 23rd March. There was a great attendance on the day as over 25 junior and seniors took to the floor, some for the first time. The grading started with a warm up with all students on the floor, from beginners up to higher grades (green, brown belts).

Once the beginners were warmed up and their fitness test was over they were asked to sit down and the higher grades continued on with their warm up/fitness test. Once the fitness test was over all students were asked back on to the floor to continue with the grading.

During the grading students were asked to perform set movements up and down the floor. Movements included kicks punches, head blocks, kick blocks, katas and some light sparring at the end of the grading for higher grades only, (green belts up). Some students were on the floor for approx 1hr and others for 1hr 30mins (higher grades).

Delighted to say all students passed with flying colours on the day and 5 students doubled graded also. Chief Instructor John Ryan was very happy with the standard and discipline of all students he said "Great effort put in by everyone here today, well done".
