Nenagh Éire Óg Notes 13th April 2022

Junior Leagues

Both our junior teams were in action over the weekend with both suffering defeats in the North Junior A & B Leagues. Our Junior As were defeated by 2 points on Friday evening by Kiladangan. The score in the game was 1–21 to 2–16 with Craig Hilmi and Ben West getting the Nenagh goals in the first half.

Our Junior B team were defeated by Silvermines on Sunday evening on a scoreline of 1-18 to 1-9, David Cleary getting our goal.

Both teams will be in action again in two weeks with the Junior As playing Toomevara on Fri 22nd April and the Junior Bs playing Templederry on Sat 23rd April – both games in MacDonagh Park

 

Co Senior League

Our seniors are in action in Round Three of the Co League next weekend. They play Clonoulty Rossmore on Saturday evening at 5.30 in MacDonagh Park.

 

Under 19 Football

Following their fine win over Borrisokane in the U19B quarter final, our U19 footballers now face Moneygall Clonakenny in the North semi-final on Wed eve, 13th April, at 6.30 in Moneygall.

 

Lotto

Our lotto jackpot was €9,600 last Mon night. Our lotto can be played either online - the link is available on our social media sites or by contacting any Committee member to join up for one or multiple draws.

 

Membership

Membership for 2022 is now due and can be paid through Foireann.ie. Any queries on this please contact Enda Long at 087 221 3954. Membership can also be paid to Enda Long or any Committee member. With games now resumed for all groups, players should ensure that their membership is up to date.

 

Official Opening

Nenagh Eire Óg will officially open the new Hurling Wall and all-weather pitch area on Bank Holiday Monday, 2nd May. It will be officially opened by the GAA President Larry McCarthy at 2pm. This promises to be an action-packed day, where everyone from U6 to senior and people in the wider community will have the opportunity to visit the club facilities and partake in the entertainment and festivities.  More details to follow, but make sure to keep the day free for what will be an historic event for our club.

 

Darkness Into Light

Darkness into Light has asked Nenagh Éire Óg members/supporters to volunteer as stewards for their annual walk. If you can help and be at the Scout's Hall at 3.45am on May 7th, please text 086 0855165 and we will pass on your details.

 

Tipperary

Congratulations to Sam O'Farrell and the Tipperary minors who won their opening match of the Munster Minor Championship against Waterford last week. They played Clare in Round Two last night (Tuesday) in Semple Stadium.

 

Nenagh Éire Óg Gaelic Games Youth Academy 

The Nenagh Eire Og Gaelic Games Youth Academy proudly sponsored by Albany Home Decor & A Sportsmans Dream welcomes new members to the club, training times for the various age groups as per below, contact the club social media sites with any questions. Guess The Score Juvenile Club Fundraiser 

Thank you very much to all of the boys who have returned their Guess The Score Cards. Anyone who has yet to return their card please do so at the next training session, a juvenile committee member will be there to collect your card or you can give it to your lead coach. This is an important fundraiser for the Juvenile Club, your support is appreciated.

 

Easter Cúl Camps.

There are still some places available to attend the Easter Cúl Camp. The camp takes place on Tuesday 12th, Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th of April. Camp will run from 10.00a.m until 1.00p.m. Booking can be made online through the Tipperary County Board link https://tipperary.gaa.ie/tipperary-gaa-easter-camp/ . The camp costs €35 for the three days with each child receiving a football and sliotar. The camp is for children ages 6-13.

 

Under 7

The Under 7 boys are having fun practicing their hurling skills on Saturday mornings on the astroturf from 10-11am. As always we'd love to see new faces of boys born in the years 2015/16.

Under 9

Training continues on Saturday mornings at 10am for any boys born in 2013 and 2014. New boys are always welcome to join. Contact Cathal on 086 080 6460 or the club social media sites with any queries. 

 

Under 11

Our Under 11's had their first hurling matches of the year, 28 boys took part against Durlas Óg in MacDonagh Park last Saturday morning. Thanks to Durlas Óg for travelling over to play us. The first of our football matches will take place next weekend. Training for hurling and football continue this week at the usual times 

New players born in 2011 and 2012 are welcome to give it a try. Contact 0874086439 for more details. training takes place every Tuesday - hurling, 6 - 7pm & Friday - football, 6 to 7pm. 

Please encourage any boys that would like to start football to come along Friday. 

 

Under 13

Our C panel played Portroe in Nenagh on Tuesday evening at 6 pm. The knockout round is next week where our A panel play Roscrea and our C panel play Ballina.

Training on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evenings. 

 

Under 15

Our Under 15 boys won away against Newport last week. Training for this group continues on Tuesdays from 7-8 pm and on Thursday evenings at 6pm.

 

Under 17

U17/19 training continues every Monday and Wednesday at 6.50 pm. We are getting a great turnout and encourage anyone who was on either of these squads before to come back and join us again.
