Nenagh Éire Óg Notes 12th September 2022

Senior

Hard luck to our senior hurlers who lost out to JK Brackens on Sunday last in the Co Preliminary Quarter Final. The score in the game was 3 – 17 to 1 – 19, James Mackey getting the first half goal. This defeat ends our interest in this year’s championship, thanks to players and management for the work they put in all year.

Lotto

This week's lotto Jackpot was €3,600. Our new lotto boxes are now located in the following businesses in the town - The Hi-B, JKC, Centra, Rockies, Cleary’s Daybreak & Andys. You can buy your lotto tickets here each week and they will be included in the next lotto draw. So please keep an eye out for our new lotto 'boxes' in these premises and please continue to support our lotto. You can also continue to play our lotto online or contact any Committee member. Thank you for your continued support of our lotto.

Tipperary Draw

The 2022/23 Tipperary Draw has been deferred until 30th September. There are great prizes on offer again this year – added to the top prize for the first four draws are prize bonds. Our club promoters will be contacting all members in the coming weeks and all new members are also welcome. Please contact Bartley Ryan at 086 7358359 if you would like to join the draw.

Development Update

Great progress has been made over the past number of weeks on the development of our new full sized pitch. This is a huge project and will take a number of weeks before it is complete. The costs for this are unfortunately also huge and we are continuing to seek funding for this phase of the project. Our membership packages are still open and we thank everyone who has contributed to this to date. If you would like to avail of any of these packages, please contact any club officer or committee member for more information. Donations can also be made electronically - bank details available from Anne Kennedy & John Tooher. Please be sure to include your details if transferring money to this dedicated fundraising account.

Condolences

We extend our sympathies to the Gratton family on the death of Roger Gratton last week. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Under 5

Our little boys continue to train at 10am on Saturday mornings on the astro pitch. This group will close this year’s season with a hurling blitz v Kiladangan on September 24th. The boys have made huge progress during the season and look forward to very bright futures with Nenagh Éire Óg.

The boys have great fun at training and blitzes and we would love to welcome any new boys who would like to join in. Any boys born in 2017 are welcome to come along and try training out, any questions call John on 087 1365053.

Under 7

Training continues Wednesday 6-7pm and Saturday morning 10-11am. New players are always welcome to come along, so any boys born in the years 2015/16 please come along. For further information please contact Alan on 087-7518789.

Our Under 9 boys played Toomevara last weekend and had excellent performances. Training continues on Wednesday evenings for Football and hurling and Saturday morning for hurling. New boys born in 2013 and 2014 are always welcome to join. Contact Cathal on 086 080 6460 or the club social media sites with any queries.

Under 11

Our Under 11 hurlers travelled to Kilkenny last weekend to play O'Loughlin Gaels. It was a great day out for the boys and a wonderful opportunity to travel as a group and build lasting bonds. Thanks very much to John for driving the bus, a true gentleman. Thanks to Cyril for orchestrating the sing song on the bus, terrific entertainment. No training on Wednesday of this week, back training Friday evening at 6p.m. New players born in 2011 and 2012 welcome to come along and give it a try. Contact 0874086439 for more details.

Under 13

Our Under 13A panel were out against Kilruane in Dolla last week in the North Semi Final and what a battle it was with the game going to extra time to decide the winner. Despite a heroic effort from our boys it wasn't to be and that ended the 2022 season for this group. Best wishes to Kilruane in the rest of the competition.

Our Under 13C panel played Shannon Rovers last week in their North Semi Final and despite being well behind at half time our boys rallied fiercely in the second half to bring the margin back to just two points but in the end Shannon Rovers were more clinical in front of goal and took the spoils. Best wishes to Shannon Rovers in the remainder of the competition.

Thanks to the boys and their parents from both groups for all of their commitment and continued support since last November.  Thanks to the Under 13 management group for their time and running of these two groups this season. Final training Friday at 6.30, it will be a fun session to close.

Under 15

Our U15s play Ballina in the North quarter final on Thursday at 6pm in Newport - best of luck to the boys in this game.

Under 17

Following a great victory over Toomevara in the North semi-final last Monday week, our boys faced Roscrea in the North final on Monday evening last.

U17 training continues every Monday and Wednesday at 6.50pm unless there is a match.
