Nenagh Éire Óg Notes 12th August 2022

Junior

Hard luck to our Junior B hurlers who exited the championship last weekend following a 1 - 21 to 1 - 5 loss to Lorrha, our second half goal coming from Sean McTiernan. Thanks to all players and the management team for their work with this group all year.

Senior

Following their first round draw against Clonoulty, our senior hurlers will play Moycarkey Borris in Round 2 of the Co. Championship next Fri evening at 7pm in The Ragg.

Under 19

Our u19s were out on Wednesday night against Silvermines and again holidays took their toll. The Mines started well and looked like they would inflict a heavy defeat on Nenagh. As half time approached, we trailed by 9 pts. However a very spirited second half saw this very young squad hold their own in the second half and reduce the deficit to 7 by full time. They now play Roscrea in the quarter final of the North Championship on Wed evening at 7pm in Roscrea.

This week's lotto Jackpot was €3,000. In the coming week, you will be able to play our lotto in the following businesses around the town, JKCs, Centra, The HiB, Rockies & Andys. Under 11

Under 11 boys had an amazing week last week with the highlight being a bus trip to Páirc Uí Chaoimh where they played in a football blitz against teams from Cork and Kerry. The boys dropped into Newtownshandrum for a hurling match on the way back and gave a great account of themselves. A super day was had by all, thanks to John for driving the bus, to Niall for organising the trip and to Kieran and Brian for coaching and supervising on the day.

Following on from the big trip to Cork the boys played two hurling matches in Nenagh on Saturday morning against Kilruane. Despite the damp weather the boys hurled brilliantly.

It would be hard to top the adventures of last week but we will certainly give it a try as this week the boys are taking another trip this time to a stadium closer to home and to Tipperary hearts, you may have guessed it, this group are off to Semple Stadium on Wednesday to play in a Munster Go Games blitz. The boys are hugely excited about this trip as they will get to play on the same pitch as many of their heroes.

Training continues Friday only this week. Matches against Borrisokane this Saturday morning in Nenagh.

New players born in 2011 and 2012 are welcome to come along and give it a try. Contact 0874086439 for more details.

Under 13

Under 15

Training continues Tuesday and Thursday from 7-8 p.m. The boys are due to play their first Championship game this week when they play Roscrea on Thursday evening at 7pm in Nenagh.

Under 17

Under 17s had a great run out against Toomevara on Monday 25th July. With holidays still affecting squads, Nenagh were short several players but were well supported by Under 15s who stood up to the challenge magnificently. After a very positive start Nenagh raced into an 8 point lead only for Toome to claw it back to 4. There were spells of superb hurling in the game with both sides promising better days ahead. In the end a draw game with 2-17 each was a fair result and both sides will relish further encounters before the championship is over. They played Newport last Monday evening. U17 training continues every Monday and Wednesday at 6.50 pm unless there is a match.
