Nenagh Éire Óg Club Notes - 18/08/2014

Senior: Éire Óg’s Hibernian Inn north Tipperary senior hurling championship semi-final against Borris-Ileigh is expected to take place on the week-ending Sunday, August 24th. Borris-Ileigh are a top class team and the up-coming semi-final represents their 11th appearance in the last four since 2000 (Éire Óg’s ninth). The lads would really appreciate your support for this key game. Please keep a close eye on the club website and on the club’s various social media channels for all the latest updates on fixtures.

Junior A: Although a play-off was scheduled to take place between Kildangan and Éire Óg on Saturday evening to determine the winner of group two in this year’s north Tipperary junior A hurling championship the clubs opted to toss for it on Thursday evening. Kildangan won the toss and now progress to the semi-finals while Éire Óg will face Toomevara in the quarter-finals on the week-ending August 24th. Toome are a top class junior A team who progressed to the county semi-finals in 2013. The lads would appreciate your support for this vital knock-out game. The quarter-final draw in full is: Knockshegowna v Roscrea, Nenagh Éire Óg v Toomevara - group winners Kildangan and Kilruane MacDonagh’s progress to the semi-finals which are scheduled to take place on the week-ending Sunday, August 31st.

Junior B: The Blues lost 2-12 to 2-13 against Portroe on Saturday evening. Although the Éire Óg junior B hurlers were defeated on this occasion plenty of positives could be taken from the performance. Indeed, the spirit of the players and their determination to work hard for one another will be crucial in the Blues’ final group game against Newport - Newport currently lead the group on score difference (the group winners progress to the semi-finals while the second and third-placed teams compete in the quarter-finals). Having beaten Silvermines in the opening round Éire Óg remain in a good position to make the quarter-finals at the very least. For a full report on Saturday’s game against Portroe please see the club website.

Minor A: Unfortunately, the Ger Gavin North Tipperary Minor A Hurling Championship clash with Borris-Ileigh scheduled to take place on Saturday evening was postponed. The lads return to action on Wednesday, August 20th when the Blues face Kilruane MacDonagh’s in Toomevara at 6.30pm. Your support is appreciated.

Fixtures: Please keep a close eye on the club website and on the club’s various social media channels for all the latest updates on fixtures and results.

Lotto: This week’s lotto jackpot of €1,000 was not won. Luck dip winners: Gráinne Smith (Artane, Dublin - online winner), Liam Fitzpatrick, (St Conlan’s Road), Anthony Morgan (Northville), JP Jones (Bruach Tailte), Michelle Madden (Rockford).
