Congratulations: Everyone associated with the Nenagh Éire Óg club would like to congratulate club president Ger Gavin who will collect a Sean Ghael award in The Dome at Semple Stadium, Thurles on Sunday, November 15th - iar uachtarán Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Liam Ó Néill will present the award. The Cumann na Sean Ghael committee was inaugurated in 2003 to annually to honour persons over the age of seventy who have made a significant impact on the GAA. While Ger has acted as a selector on a number of hurling and football teams for the Blues, it is as an administrator that Ger Gavin made his greatest contribution to Nenagh Éire Óg. Ger was chairman of the club from 1986-1995 and again in 2004-2005. In between he was vice-chairman for three different periods and also served as treasurer in 1985. Ger’s extraordinary contribution to the club was recognised in 1989 when he was the recipient of the Tipperary and Munster Clubman of the Year. This prestigious award recognised the leadership and example set by Ger in the development of the club complex at MacDonagh Park - his vision and planning were particularly vital to the success of this project. Further to this unique achievement Ger Gavin has also worked tirelessly in his efforts to raise funds for the club, most notably via the promotion of the County Board Draw and the Club Lotto. Ger plays a key role in the club to this day.
