Nenagh Éire Óg - Club Notes 09/02/2015

Well Done: A huge well done goes out to the Éire Óg juvenile club and everyone associated with the Éire Ógres programme of events which was launched on Saturday at MacDonagh Park. Sixty of the best-behaved boys in Nenagh showed up and put their all into the drills and skills which were laid out around the complex hall. Éire Óg will be running an Éire Ógres GAA camp for beginners for four Saturdays in February beginning on the 7th from 10am to 11am at the MacDonagh Park complex. This free Éire Ógres programme is perfect for boys born 2008-2010 to help improve their hand-eye coordination and agility in a safe and fun environment. No equipment necessary. Tea and coffee will be provided for parents. The boys will be presented with a cert and a special Éire Ógres t-shirt on completion of the course - call or text Shane Connolly (087 637 3830) or Catherine McTiernan (086 085 5165) for more information.

County Championship Draw: Nenagh Éire Óg have been drawn against Clonoulty-Rossmore, the Templederry Kenyons and Ballina in the group stages of the 2015 Clean Ireland Recycling County Senior Hurling Championship. The first round of the county championship is expected to take place on the week-ending April 5th.

Club Executive: At a club committee meeting last week Anne Kennedy was appointed acting secretary of the senior club and will work alongside Declan Bailey in the interim. We wish Anne all the very best in the role and thank her for such a terrific show of commitment to the club.

Club Social: A club social and medal presentation night was hosted by the Abbey Court Hotel on Friday, February 6th - on the night the 1957 and 1964 north champions were honoured. Our thanks go out to everyone who helped make this such a memorable event.

Healthy Club Project: The Nenagh Éire Óg Healthy Club Project team, in partnership with SOS (Suicide or Survive), hosted a one-day Wellness Workshop which aimed to help people understand, take charge of and responsibility for their own mental health on Thursday, January 29th in the Business Innovation Centre on Stafford Street, Nenagh. The Wellness Workshop proved a great success for the Nenagh Éire Óg Healthy Club Project team. As a result of our successful seminars in 2014 on wellbeing and mental health the Nenagh Éire Óg Healthy Club Project team were nominated to hold a Wellness Workshop in partnership with SOS (Suicide or Survive). This workshop which was free of charge - the workshop was booked out and forty people attended from all parts of North Tipperary; people also travelled from Cork and Dublin. The feedback from people was very positive and everyone found the day excellent.

Membership: Membership for 2015 is now due and priced at €25 - family membership option A is priced at €60 while option B is priced at €85.

Condolences: Every associated with the Nenagh Éire Óg club would like to offer their sympathies to the Bailey family on the sad passing of Billy Bailey on Saturday, February 8th. Billy will be sorely missed by his wife Noreen, sons Cyril, Declan and Ronan, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, brother-in-law Eddie, relatives, his many friends and by all supporters of the Éire Óg club.
