Nenagh Éire Óg - Club Notes 05/01/2015

Awards: The North Tipperary GAA Board has named Nenagh Éire Óg as club of the year for 2014, Dáire Quinn has also been named senior hurler of the year and Alan Kelly has been named junior A hurler of the year. Nenagh Éire Óg has won the North Tipperary Club of the Year award on four previous occasions - 1979, 1989, 1992 & 2009. The club is also thrilled and proud to see players Dáire Quinn and Alan Kelly honoured in such a manner. The presentation ceremony to the Nenagh Éire Óg club, Dáire Quinn and Alan Kelly will take place in the MacDonagh Park Complex, Nenagh on Friday, January 16th at 8pm. Healthy Club Project: The Nenagh Éire Óg Healthy Club Project team, in partnership with SOS (Suicide or Survive), will host a one-day Wellness Workshop which aims to help people understand, take charge of and responsibility for their own mental health - this workshop, which will be delivered by SOS, takes place on Thursday, January 29th in the Business Innovation Centre on Stafford Street, Nenagh. The workshop is free of charge to participants and will be of benefit to anyone who is interested in mental health and wellness. Participants will be facilitated by people with both lived life experience of mental health difficulties and people with experience of working in the mental health area. Personal testimony will be combined with practical tools and tips that you can use in your everyday life to improve your own wellness. The workshop will examine our thinking process, the wellness continuum, mindfulness, personality traits and the ‘wheel of change’. This is all done in a very interactive non-intrusive and fun way. Areas covered on the day include relaxation and stress management, understanding the relationship between thoughts and emotions, developing a wellness toolkit and daily plan. Book: The first two volumes of the book ‘A Central Culture - Gaelic Sport in Nenagh’, which has been compiled by Dónal A Murphy, PJ Maxwell and Nancy Murphy, are now on sale for a combined price of €40 (both volumes). Copies of the book can be obtained in selected local shops or alternatively from officers of the club. ‘A Central Culture - Gaelic Sport in Nenagh’ is now on sale at the following book shops: Nenagh Book Shop, Eason’s, Cleary’s Garage and Cinnamon Alley Café. Those interested can also purchase a copy via the club website. Membership: Membership for 2015 is now due and priced at €25 - family membership option A is priced at €60 while option B is priced at €85.

Club Presentation Night: A club social and medal presentation night will take place at the Abbey Court Hotel on Friday, February 6th - details to be confirmed.

Fixtures: Please keep a close eye on the club website and on the club’s various social media channels for all the latest updates on fixtures and results.

Condolences: The Nenagh Éire Óg would like to extend its sympathies to the family and friends of Pearse O’Brien who passed away recently. Pearse is a former player with the club and will be sadly missed. In honour of Pearse the Nenagh Éire Óg performed a joint guard of honour alongside side Nenagh Celtic at the funeral mass on Friday, January 2nd. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Mass: There will be will be a month’s mind mass for Patrick ‘Devere’ Reynolds on Saturday, January 10th at 6.15pm in St Mary’s.

Lotto: The recent lotto jackpot of €1,100 was not won. The €50 lucky dip winners were: Mary Reddan, (St Joseph’s Park), Ivan Mitchell (Northville), Catherine Hall (Hamilton Drive) & Conor Delaney. Next draw on January 5th - please support the Blues and play our club lotto.
