Nenagh Éire Óg - Club Notes 01/11/2015

Nenagh Éire Óg Weekly Notes

Under-21A: The under-21A hurling team will face Roscrea in the opening round of this year’s championship on Saturday, November 7th in Moneygall at 2.30pm. This year the under-21A hurling team is managed by Greg Browne (manager), Con Morris and Michael McNamara. The 2015 Walsh’s of Nenagh North Tipperary Under-21A Hurling Championship will be run on a knock-out-loser’s-group basis. Kilruane MacDonagh’s will face Ballina in a preliminary round game while the remaining first round games will see Kildangan face the winner of the Kilruane versus Ballina game and Toomevara take on Newport Gaels.

Dermot Earley Youth Leadership Initiative: The family of the late great Dermot Earley (senior) believe that a new initiative in his honour can help to develop the next generation of young Irish leaders. The Dermot Earley Youth Leadership Initiative - organised by the GAA, Foróige and the National University of Ireland, Galway - commenced at MacDonagh Park, Nenagh on Tuesday, October 27th. Nine young GAA and Foróige club members from Nenagh Éire Óg, Moyne-Templetuohy, Arravale Rovers and Clonoulty-Rossmore were presented with the opportunity to develop their leadership skills through an exciting programme which evokes and honours the values Dermot epitomised and held so dear.  To inspire the lucky participants Tipperary senior hurling captain Brendan Maher attended the launch night and spoke about his role, responsibilities and what it takes to become a leader. The lucky participants, aged between fifteen and eighteen years of age, will explore all elements of leadership before being asked to put their skills to work in their own clubs and communities. Those who complete all three modules between September 2015 and May 2016 will be eligible to graduate from NUIG with a Foundation Certificate in Youth Leadership & Community Action.

Night at the Dogs: Tickets are now on sale now for the combined juvenile and Camogie club ‘Night at the Dogs’ club fundraiser on Saturday, November 21st at Thurles Greyhound Stadium. Tickets are priced at €10 and are available from all committee members.

Lotto: There was one winner of last week’s lotto jackpot of €4,100 - congratulations to Joe Hanrahan (Ballygraigue Road). €50 lucky dip winners: Paudie O’Kennedy (Church Road) & Jimmy McGrath (Cormack Drive). Please support the Blues and play our club lotto.
