Nenagh Éire Óg Camogie - Club Notes 26/10/2015

Junior A: Our junior side had a fantastic win in the county final on Saturday last defeating Toomevara 0-9 to 1-5. The win sees the team promoted to the intermediate grade for 2016 and it is nothing more than the girls deserve after also capturing the junior A league title earlier this year. The club wishes to thank the entire panel for all their hard work as well as the diligent team management of Kieran O Brien and Noel Coffey and all the backroom team who also played a huge part. For a match report please see our website www.nenagheireog.com while the full match is available to watch on our YouTube channel. There are also a number of photographs on our Facebook page and we thank Marie O Brien for capturing them. A special thank you goes to Collins Bakery for kindly providing a cake for the victorious team, Martin Morris and all the staff in the Hibernian Inn for the refreshments afterwards, Donna Cummins and Kasia Tomaszewska of the Zip Yard for sponsoring the numerous flags displayed around the town and to Paul Sheahan of Sheahan’s Hardware for providing the boards that were used in making up the Good Luck signs. We also want to thank Nenagh Credit Union for their kind and generous sponsorship of the club throughout the years.

Minor: Our minor team got their championship campaign off to a winning start defeating Clonoulty/Boherlahan 3-11 to 1-9 on Bank Holiday Monday. Well done ladies. Their next match is against Drom & Inch on Sunday November 8th at 12 noon in MacDonagh Park.

Commiserations: Hard luck to the senior hurlers who were unfortunately defeated by a point in the county final on Sunday by Thurles Sarsfields. The entire panel and management team have put in a massive effort over the years and left no stone unturned in their effort to bring back the Dan Breen Cup. We know that they will continue with the same attitude into the future and they will win the county before long.

Sympathies: The club extends its sympathies to the Morris family and in particular Jimmy following the death of his wife Breda. Even though Jimmy has been based in Canada for a number of years now he remains a fantastic and loyal follower of the club and was thrilled when news reached him of the girls success on Saturday. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.

Strength & Conditioning: Our strength and conditioning training continues under the supervision of former Tipperary hurler John O’Keefe. On Tuesday nights we train in the running track in Ballygreigue. Under-10s and under-12s train from 7.30pm to 8pm while all players from under-14 upwards train from 8pm to 8.30pm. On Friday evenings we are training in the complex in MacDonagh Park from 7pm to 7.30pm for under-10s and under-12s while every from under-14 up trains from 8pm to 8.30pm. It costs €2 per evening and is run in conjunction with the juvenile club.
