Nenagh Éire Óg Camogie - Club Notes 11/11/2013

Under 12: Our Under 12's finished their year on Sunday last when they were beaten in the league semi final by a superb Clonoulty Rossmore outfit in The Ragg. The girls have had a wonderful year winning the U12 championship and competing in numerous blitz's throughout the season. We wish to thank their management team of Greg Browne, Philip Shanahan, Pat Sheridan, Caitriona Morris and Mairead Long who so selflessly gave so much of their time to this team and all the players had great fun along the way.

Under 14: Our U14 team finished their season on a high note winning the league final when they beat Newport on a scoreline of 1-06 0-01. Maeve Coffey scored Nenagh's goal while Vanessa Ryan played a captains part throughout and collected the cup on behalf of her wonderful team mates. The club thanks all the mentors who gave so much to the girls, namely Noel Coffey, Martin Ryan, Maeve Maloney and Catherine Kennedy.

Minor: Our minor team tested the hearts of all Eire Og supporters in the county Minor B championship final when they dramatically grabbed a draw from the jaws of defeat with a last second goal against Cashel in The Ragg. This was the first time the club ever played in a county minor decider and it looked as if the occasion had gotten to our players as we failed to turn up for the first half. It was all Cashel and they went into the break deservedly winning 1-08 to 0-02. Our girls were not going to give up easily and inspired by a Grace O Brien goal they clawed their way back into the game and entering injury time there were three points between us. We never gave up and in the fourth minute of injury time, O Brien again goaled for as dramatic an equaliser as you are likely to ever see. It looks as if the replay will be on Sunday week, 24th of November in The Ragg. Please check our website for details of this fixture and we hope a huge crowd from the club will show up to see us in the replay.

PRESENTATION NIGHT: All our successful teams from this year will be presented with their medals on Saturday November 30th in The Complex. We look forward to seeing all our mentors, players and their parents there on the night.

Newsletter: We are always looking for photographs, news and articles for our newsletter. If you feel you have anything to contribute or if there is news that we may not be aware of please email eireognenagh@gmail.com
