Nenagh Castle is to re-open to the general public on June 11th. Marcus O'Connor, Town Manager, has confirmed that The Office of Public Works is to hand over Nenagh Castle and its grounds to the Town Council on June 10th.
Nenagh Castle can be accessed via Banba Square and guided tours will be available as two interns and a guide have been recruited.
Built from limestone, Nenagh Castle measures fifty-five feet in external diameter at the base and rises to a height of one hundred feet. The Castle features four storeys and thanks to a recent renovation this wonderful landmark now represents the town’s premier tourist attraction.
Mr O'Connor also added that the council had purchased Gill's Garden which adjoins the Castle and were looking at ways of integrating it into the overall Castle site.
