Nenagh Arts Centre Kicks Off 2014 Schedule

Animal Beats, Futurism and One Simple Word' in Concert at Nenagh Arts Centre

Up and coming indie band 'Animal Beats' are performing with local bands 'Futurism' and 'One Simple Word' at Nenagh Arts Centre theatre this weekend. Animal Beats will take to the stage following strong reviews a successful concert in Whelans in Dublin earlier this year

Animal Beats are a Limerick/Dublin-based rock band with indie infusions. They’vegained a reputation in the as a high-energy, high-entertainment and high-talent rock band showcasing original technique and musicality! ‘Futurism’ are a Clonmel/Nenagh based pop-punk band taking cues from the likes of My Bloody Valentine, Incubus and A Day To Remember, the foursome have a lot to offer such as beefy guitars, slick drum patterns and razor-sharp vocals! Alt-Rock band One Simple Word hail from Newport and are one of the newest bands to hit the music scene in Tipperary. Having played shows to great acclaim in the tail end of 2013, 2014 looks to be big for the trio who bring a wealth of talent for such a young age!

The date for the show is Saturday 25th January with a start time of 8:30pm. Admission is €10 per person or four people for a group price of €30.

French Film ‘Renoir’ screens at Nenagh Arts Centre

Showing at Nenagh Arts Centre as the first screening of the Spring season on Thursday 23rd January, is the film ‘Renoir’ directed by Gilles Bourdos. Artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir is portrayed in the final years of his life, grieving for his wife, shaken by his convalescent son’s war-wounds and crippled by arthritis.
He employs a beautiful young model, Andrée, whose presence inspires and rejuvenates both father and son, Jean.
The film is described ‘as a visual feast, colours, light and textures mirroring Renoir’s work and echoing his words:…the pain passes, but beauty remains’.
The film is presented in French with subtitles. Adm is €8 and the film starts at 8 p.m. on this Thursday 23rd January.

Nenagh Arts Centre Portrait Painting Day- Saturday, February 8th

Nenagh Arts Centre is presenting a day of portrait painting and drawing in the atmospheric surrounding of the theatre on Saturday 8th February. The day will be split into two sessions of portrait painting, with tuition at hand from a professional tutor. This workshop is perfect for those familiar with figure painting and those who would like to try it for the first time.

The day runs from 2.30 to 5.30 p.m. and there will be a sitter available for those taking part. All attending should look to bring canvases, paper, paints, brushes, pencils and other painting and drawing tools as well as a support such as an easel for painting on. Admission is €25 and places are strictly limited. Manager at the Arts Centre, Brendan Maher said this week: “we are looking to develop more classes with an emphasis on visual arts in the Centre and we hope that this Portrait Painting Day will be of interest to a broad range of people – beginners and those more accomplished.”
