Lough Derg Sub Aqua Club Notes 24/03/2014

The SCUBA diving season is officially under way and Lough Derg S.A.C. have started it very brightly. Two of the club's members, namely, Tom Shaw and Stephen Smyth who went forward as Moniteur* candidates this year were in the nation's capital on Saturday for a gruelling day of examinations. Thankfully both men were successful and the club has now got two new instructors. A hearty congratulations to them from everyone associated with Lough Derg S.A.C.

Meanwhile, Lough Derg Sub Aqua Club's Search & Recovery unit have joined up with, An Garda Síochana, The Killaloe Coast Guard unit, and other local search and rescue units to try and find missing L.I.T. student, Steven Kavanagh. It is believed he was last seen getting out of a taxi on the Killaloe side of Clonlara bridge in the early hours of Thursday morning the 7th of March wearing blue jeans, black shoes and a black jacket.

The club's Search & Recovery unit is also involved in another search which began on Friday March 21st near the bridge at Killaloe in Co. Clare after reports that a man was seen entering the water there.
