Lough Derg Sub Aqua Club Notes 02/09/2013

The club would like to congratulate Stephen Smyth on successfully passing his Lead Diver test over the weekend. A lot of hard work and dedication went into preparations for the test over the past year. A Lead Diver is a diver who is capable of taking charge of a group of divers, experienced and inexperienced, plus all the equipment necessary, to allow diving to take place successfully.

Congratulations also to Eileen Finn who successfully finished her Rescue Test on Sunday. The Rescue course consists of a series of lectures, an amount of pool work, and an amount of open water work. It is designed to expose the candidate to different emergency scenarios. All the skills and knowledge gained through the course are then  put into practice and the candidate is tested.

It is great to see Club Members achieving higher qualifications and improving their diving skills. It results in better and continued safe diving for everybody. All courses are listed on the CFT website diving.ie.

The club Try a Dive nights will be held in October in Nenagh Pool. The first night will be during the National ‘Try a Dive’ week which runs from Oct 7th to 13th. An extra night will be added for those who can’t make it that week. Keep an eye on local press and the Club’s Facebook page for updates and exact dates. This is open to all members of the public who can come along on the night to experience using scuba gear underwater.

A club newsletter signup form has been added to the Facebook page. This is to help improve communication within the club. You can also signup by sending an email to loughdergsac@gmail.com requesting to be added.
