Sheila Gregan from Newtown took Gold in the Virtual Triathlon at the recent World Transplant Games in Durban, South Africa. The triathlon involved a 5km road race, a 20km cycle and a 400m freestyle swim and Sheila's combined times were enough to bring home the Gold.
Sheila is a member of the Nenagh Triathlon Club and regularly competes in Triathlons. Following her gold medal win Sheila went on to thank her donor, “At the end of the day it’s all down to my donor and their decision to donate. I find it hard to articulate in words my thanks to the donor family, so this is how I show my gratitude, through sport.”
Sheila also won a bronze medal in the 400m freestyle event.
