This promises to be an exciting and fitting address for Tipperary businesses as the Group Chairman & CEO, Sean O’Driscoll will talk about an ‘energy revolution’ to facilitate the integration of new ‘smart’ technologies and the commitment of Glen Dimplex to innovation in renewable electric heating technologies and their efforts “to build trust in the new energy world’. Sean O’Driscoll is a member of the Advisory Group for the Global Irish Economic Forum. Tipperary County Council in conjunction with Enterprise Ireland, The Education & Training Board, LIT, Local Development Companies, Teagasc, Local Enterprise Office etc. will repeat the successful Who To Talk To initiative (now in it’s third year) on Wednesday 10 September at LIT Campus Thurles between 3pm and 7pm. Following the merger of the two Tipperary Local Authorities on 1 June, the focus this year will be on working together to support enterprise and job creation and getting to know who is there to support businesses across the unified County. Last year’s event which focused exclusively on food attracted an attendance of 270 and as this will be the first major all Tipperary business event, a doubling of last year’s attendance is expected.

Joe MacGrath Chief Executive of Tipperary County Council said that "I am very pleased that this successful event is now being organised on a countywide basis and will follow on the recent establishment of the Tipperary Local Enterprise Office ( LEO) bringing a clear focus on the range of measures to assist local job creation. I am grateful to all of the organisations and enterprise agencies who make this event possible" The organising Committee (chaired by Sinead Carr, Director of Economic & Community Development, Tipperary Co. Co.) is anxious to attract potential and existing entrepreneurs from all corners of the merged County and this year’s theme is “ Tipperary Together- Lets talk Business”.

The Who To Talk To event should act as a catalyst to individuals considering self employment and provide an opportunity for existing businesses to network and hear about supports and finance available. As in previous years, the event will feature over 30 information desks/stands, a funding workshop, keynote address and a number of new features have been added this year including – the Business Expo – a showcase of businesses set up in Tipperary over the past 18 months. This expo will act as “a launch pad” for business Promoters, facilitate networking and more importantly act as a catalyst for individuals attending the event to consider starting or expanding their business.

Another new feature this year is the Retail Forum aimed at Chambers of Commerce and Business Associations. The Retail Forum will include an address by well known “Dragon” Bobby Kerr in addition to a presentation on supports available through the Local Authority to invigorate and energise the sector.
