Nenagh's Donnacha Ryan has put pen to paper on a new three year contract with the IRFU and will now remain with Munster until June 2017.

Ryan attended Nenagh CBS school and played all his underage rugby with Nenagh Ormond RFC. He is currently a member of Shannon RFC.

Back in September 2004 Ryan made his senior debut for Munster against the Ospreys after graduating from the Munster Rugby Academy. He has lined out for Munster 123 times and has gone over for 7 tries.

His first cap for Ireland came against Argentina in November 2008 and he has won a total of 28 caps for his country.

Discussing his new contract Donnacha Ryan said: "I am delighted to sign a new IRFU contract and to continue my playing career with Munster. It is an exciting time to be involved in Irish rugby and I hope to play an important role in achieving success for both Munster and Ireland.”

Ryan returned from injury to help Munster defeat Perpignan at the weekend in a thrilling Heineken Cup match.
