Puckane’s Andrew Slattery begins his 2014 National Championship assault this Sunday on Kerry Motor Club’s Fel’s Point Hotel Circuit of Kerry Rally. Andrew and co-driver Shaun Forde had hoped to score points on the opening round of the championship in Mayo but mechanical problems made them miss the event. As a result, Andrew and Shaun will be making up for lost ground this weekend on the second round of the Dunlop Irish National Rally Championship.
Andrew plans to contest the remaining rounds of the popular Dunlop series in his Peugeot 208 R2 and is pulling out all the stops to get the car ready for Kerry. “I’ve driven to Peugeot Sport France to collect the parts we need for Kerry to make sure the car will be ready in time. It’s been a mammoth effort these past few weeks but hopefully it’ll be worth it. It was very frustrating to miss Mayo but I can’t wait for this weekend.”
The action on Kerry Motor Club’s event will start on Sunday morning. The event has attracted a healthy entry of over 120 cars and Andrew and Shaun will start at number 71 in the Peugeot 208 R2. Andrew would like to thank all of his sponsors and you can follow the exploits of the team over this weekend and throughout the season by liking the Peugeot Total Ireland Rally Team Page on Facebook or by following Andrew on Twitter @andyslattery86. You can also get a close up look at Andrew’s 208 R2 when it is displayed in Reen’s Peugeot dealership in Rathmore on Saturday morning.
Andrew competes in Association with Finol, Peugeot Sport and Slattery's Garage.
