€8.4 Million Allocated for North Tipperary Roads

Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar last week announced details of a €330 million investment programme for regional and local roads. North Tipperary are to benefit to the tune of €8.4 million while €9 million has been allocated to South Tipperary.

Mr Varadkar added "Local authorities will also have more discretion than ever before about how they allocate funding under the various grant categories, which will allow them to target resources at roads damaged by the recent storms."

Tipperary TD Noel Coonan has welcomed the allocation saying "Bridge Rehabilitation is a new heading for 2014 with a targeted fund being made available in 2014 to fund works arising out of the current Principal Inspections framework. Rehabilitation in North Tipperary will take place at Gordeen, Newport, Ballyoughter, Dolla, Ballyroan and Mullenkeagh bridges".
