€197, 487 Funding to Renovate Scouts Hall, Nenagh

Noel Coonan TD has welcomed €197,487 under the LEADER elements of the RDP for the renovation of the Scouts Hall at Cudville, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary.

Minister Phil Hogan announced today that sanction has being given to North Tipperary Leader Partnership to approve funding of €197,487 to Nenagh Choral Society to renovate the Scouts Hall at Cudville, Nenagh, which is at present derelict.

The proposed works will involve the creation of a modern multipurpose building consisting of a 400 seat auditorium with a stage, dressing and meeting rooms, foyer and toilet facilities. The funding is being provided under the Village Renewal and Development measure of the Rural Development Programme 2007-2013.

"The renovation of this community facility has an estimated total project cost of over €263,000 and this facility is necessary to help the organisation thrive. This project will now go back to the Board of North Tipperary Leader Partnership for final approval which is in line with the EU’s ‘'bottom-up’' approach to rural development," said Deputy Coonan.
