15 Things To Do In & Around Nenagh This Weekend

Nenagh Ormond RFC vs Garryowen

Nenagh Ormond RFC will play Garryowen in The Limerick Charity Cup on Friday 23rd August at 7.30pm in Nenagh. North Munster branch have kindly agreed to donate the gate money to the Shane Delaney Trust so come on out to support the lads and a great cause.

Nenagh & District Darts League Finals Night

The Finals Night will be held in Reddans Bar (The 44) Nenagh this Friday the 23rd August. Format for the Finals Night is as Follows: It is a Round Robin event for Both sections. The B Section will start at 7.30 p.m. Sharp and The A Section will start sharply after the completion of the B Section Group Stage.

Both Sections will be divided in to two Groups of 4 where each player plays each opponent in matches Best of 5 Legs. The top two from each board of 4 progress to the Semi Finals. Semi Finals are Best of 7 Legs. Finals are Best of 9 Legs. We would like to thank Anthony of Mills Bar in Ballina who are Sponsoring Trophies for this years Finals.

Hurling Night With the Stars

On Friday, August 23rd, at the Abbey Court Hotel in Nenagh, a ‘Hurling night with the stars’ will take place at 8pm. DJ Carey (Kilkenny), Anthony Daly (Clare & current Dublin manager), Nicky English (Tipperary), John Mullane (Waterford) and Conor Hayes (Galway) will take part in a Q & A session with members of the public, facilitated by Tipperary man Damian Lawlor from the Sunday Independent. 

Entry to the event is €10, payable at the door, and at half-time, a raffle will take place for some great prizes. This fundraising event is raising money for the ‘Fix Crumlin’ campaign at the Children’s Medical and Research Foundation at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.

Bingo Nights at Nenagh Arts Centre

Eyes down for some bingo fun that will support Nenagh Arts Centre and Nenagh Celtic Football Club in their work. Friday August 23rd at 8.30pm in Nenagh Arts Centre.

Nenagh.ie Mediaeval Fair & Peoples’ Picnic

The Nenagh.ie Mediaeval Fair & People's Picnic takes place on Saturday August 24th from 11.00am in the Castle Field and St Mary's Church grounds. Entertainment and activities will run all day from 11.00am to 5.30pm. The Nenagh.ie Mediaeval Fair and Peoples' Picnic is organised by North Tipperary County Council, Nenagh Town Council and the St. Patrick's Festival Committee with the support of Nenagh Chamber of Commerce, North Tipperary Leader Partnership and Nenagh.ie.

Ladies All Ireland U16 Footballs Finals

MacDonagh Park, Nenagh will host the Ladies All Ireland U16 “B” & “C” Finals on Saturday August 24th from 2.00pm. At 2.00pm Limerick will take on Westmeath in the “C” Final. This will be followed by the “B” Final between Meath and Waterford at 3.45pm.

The Ladies All Ireland U16 “A” Final will take place on the same day in Birr at 4.00pm between Cork and Dublin.

Meet Local Author Donal Ryan

Local Author Donal Ryan will be in attendance at the Source Library, Thurles on Saturday 24th August from 2.00pm. Donal has made the longlist for this year’s Man Booker Prize for his book “The Spinning Heart” and we now await the announcement of the shortlist on September 10th.

In the meantime, why not take this opportunity to meet Donal in person.

Tipperary Relay For Life

Greg Starr former leader on RTE Show "Operation Transformation" will officially open Relay for Life Tipperary 2013 on Saturday August 24th in Toomevara at 5.00pm. At Relay for Life, hundreds of people gather to embark on a very special 24 hour journey. Relay for Life, is a very special overnight celebration and a unique, empowering and fun event. At the heart of relay is the opportunity to celebrate cancer survivors and to remember those who have left us.

A Reading by Kay Ryan, United States Poet Laureate and Pulitzer Prize Winner

The Dromineer Literary Festival Committee is delighted to announce a reading by Former US Poet Laureate and Pulitzer Prize winner, Kay Ryan, at the Nenagh Arts Centre, at 7.30pm, on Saturday 24 August 2013.  An early present to celebrate the festival’s tenth birthday, this is Ms Ryan’s first visit to Ireland.

North Tipperary Foxhounds are hosting a Dog Show and family Fun Day this Sunday the 25th August at Grallagh, Nenagh (N52 Bypass) at 2.00pm. There will be lots of different Doggy classes and Dog Agility. There will also be Pony Rides and Garden games for the young and not so young. Teas and homemade cakes, scones and desserts served all day.

Nenagh Classic Car Club Barbeque Evening

Nenagh Classic Car Club will hold a Barbeque evening in Buddy’s Bar Capparoe on Sunday August 25th at 6.00pm.

This will be a great opportunity to bring along your Vintage/Classic car and have some photos taken as well as having what promises to be a very enjoyable evening.

Shannon Rovers and Ballina will contest the Denis’s Meats North Tipperary Intermediate Hurling Championship Final this Sunday evening August 25th at 6.30pm in MacDonagh Park, Nenagh.
