Take your health in good hands
The Christmas Day Swim at Youghal Quay will take place this year for the 21st consecutive year with all monies raised going toward the Nenagh branch of the Rape Crisis Centre Midwest, the Infusion Centre at Nenagh Hospital and a school project in Tanzania.
Last year the swim raised €20,400 and the event organisers are currently distributing sponsorship cards. Event organisers are also appealing to would-be swimmers to raise as much as possible.
The annual Christmas morning run sets out from the Nenagh CBS grounds at 11am on Christmas Day. The 3.5-mile route will take participants out the Borrisokane Road, turning left at Ballyvillane, through Coolaholiga, crossing the N52 bypass and returning to the Nenagh CBS via Dromin, Church Road and Summerhill. Participants are invited to run, walk or cycle the route. A bucket collection will take place on the day with all proceeds going to the Nenagh Day Care Centre. There will also be an open draw for spot prizes. One hundred and thirty took part in last year’s run.
Meanwhile St Joseph’s CBS Secondary School Parents Association are organising a 10km run and a 3km walk on Sunday, January 6th with a start time of 2pm. Registration takes place from 12.30pm to 1.30pm and the entrance fee is €15 for runners and €5 for walkers. The event starts and finishes at Nenagh CBS and represents to great opportunity to shake off those Christmas blues.
