All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Quarter – Final

Semple Stadium will host both the All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Quarter- Finals on Sunday with Limerick taking on Wexford in the first game at 2pm and Tipperary playing beaten Leinster finalists Dublin at 4pm. Both of these games will be shown live on RTE. Tipperary’s last meeting with Dublin in the championship was in 2011 when both sides met at the semi-final stage with Tipperary defeating Dublin by  1–19 to 0–18 with the goal coming from Lar Corbett  to set up a third All Ireland final in a row against Kilkenny. The sides last met in March when Tipperary emerged narrow winners by 1-19 to 0-19 at Semple Stadium with Tipperary advancing to the quarter –finals of the League .  Tipperary will hope to continue their high scoring after scoring 8 goals and 50 points in their last two championship games which is incredible scoring indeed. Of course a win is all we hope for and we wish the players and management team the very best of luck and again we appeal to all fans to come and support the team in great numbers as you have being doing over the last few championship games.

All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Round 4A

Tipperary footballers will travel to O’Connor Park Tullamore on Saturday July 26th to take on beaten Connacht finalists Galway in Rd 4 A of the All- Ireland Senior Football Championship with the prize of a quarter- final appearance at stake for the winners. Our senior footballers will travel with confidence after their last two championship wins and there will be great belief in the squad that they can defeat Galway and reach the last 8. This is Tipperary’s second time in three years to reach the last 12. In 2013  Galway were lucky to beat Tipperary  in Rd 1 of the qualifiers with the final score Galway 1-12, Tipperary 0-11. Tipperary footballers like the hurlers have put away big scores in their last two championship outings, scoring 2-17 against Longford and 3-17 against Laois . We wish the players and management the very best on Saturday and hopefully it will be the first of a double success for Tipperary at the weekend. Again we appeal to our supporters to make the trip to Tullamore and give your support to the team which was so much appreciated by the players and management in Portlaoise.

Ticket Prices

The following are the ticket prices for Tipperary Hurling and Football championship fixtures  for the weekend.

Saturday July 26th: SF Qualifier in Tullamore

Its unreserved seating with tickets €25 but €20 if purchased in advance of match day and juveniles (U16) are free.

Sunday  July 27th: SH Quarter Final in Thurles

Reserved Seating in both stands and terraces will only be opened if demand requires it.
Prices as follows;

• All Stand = €30
• Juvenile Family Ticket = €5 (must be accompanied by adult)
• Student/OAP Pay full price with €5 refund at designated stile with valid ID)

2014 Hurling Championship Top Scorers

Leading the way is Antrim’s Paul Shiels, though his chances of remaining at the top  are slim as the Saffrons are out of the competition and a number of players from counties still in the hunt for the Liam MacCarthy Cup are hot on his heels. Seamus Callanan leads the way with scores from play with 5-6.

Bord Gais Energy Munster GAA Hurling U21 Championship Semi-Final

Clare's three-in-a-row bid remains alive following a thrilling 5-19 to 1-25 victory over Tipperary after extra time at Ennis last Wednesday evening. The reward for the winners is a Munster final date with Cork, who beat Waterford in the other semi-final. The decider will take place at Cusack Park in a fortnight. At the end of an hour of incredibly entertaining action, the sides were deadlocked, Clare 3-13 Tipperary 1-19. Clare led by two points at the break as Tipp simply refused to roll over despite conceding two goals inside the opening quarter, 2-6 to 0-10. Tipperary put in a tremendous second half performance and were leading by a point with time nearly up when Clare equalised to send the game into extra-time. There would be no let-up when the action resumed as six points were registered inside the first five minutes, two for Tipperary and four for Clare. Then arrived the key moment when Tony Kelly’s effort from out the field came down of the post and Aaron Cunningham snapped up the breaking ball and beat Tipp keeper Paul Maher to send the home outfit moving 4-19 to 1-24 clear. Luck was not on Tipperary’s side as in normal time they were the better side and were unlucky not to hold onto their one point lead with time almost up. This was a magnificent performance by the players who gave their all over 80 plus minutes in a thrilling game against a highly fancied side. The players and management team can be very proud of a mighty display by the team who showed great character , skill and spirit on the night. Our thanks again to the players and management team of TJ Connolly ( Manager ) , Selectors,  Noel Morris, Nial Curran, Kenny Dunne who prepared the team so well and put in so much work over the past number of months.

Congratulations to  Nenagh Eire Og who defeated Toomevara in the Johnny Ryan Cup Final by  0-22 to 3-11 at the weekend.

Team Tipperary GAA Galway Races – July 28th 2014

Friends of Tipperary Football Golf Classic

Thanks to all who supported the Friends of Tipperary Golf Classic which was held in Thurles Golf Club last Saturday July 19th.  It was a great success and thanks again for your support.

Sky Sports show its first double-header

A small piece of TV history was made last Saturday when Sky Sports broadcasted its first GAA double-header. Sky Sports broadcasted  the All-Ireland Football Qualifier Round 3B tie between Roscommon and Armagh from Dr Hyde Park and this was  followed by live coverage of the All-Ireland Hurling Qualifier Round 2 meeting of neighbours Wexford and Waterford in Nowlan Park. The Sky cameras will also be in O'Connor Park on Saturday, July 26 for the All-Ireland Football Qualifier Round 4A ties between Cork and Sligo, and Galway and Tipperary. The Cork v Sligo game will throw-in at 5pm, with the Galway v Tipperary tie following at 7pm.
The football games will be part of a Tullamore triple-header which commences at 2.30pm with the meeting of Galway and Cork in the All-Ireland IHC semi-final.
