Nenagh Neptune Notes 18/04/2017

Nenagh Neptune Notes

All our club members, from youngest Squad 1 to the coaches and committee members of a more mature vintage, were extremely proud of our swimmer Mark Ryan who competed last weekend at the Irish Open Swimming Championships at the NAC in Dublin. Qualification for these prestigious championships is a highly sought prize among swimming clubs across the country and is a reflection of the dedication and talent honed at training sessions over the last number of years. Mark Ryan competed in the 50 m freestyle event and touched the pads in a time of 27.11 seconds – a fantastic effort.

Upcoming Events

As we approach the latter part of the season, attention turns to the remaining galas that our swimmers will compete in. First up is the North Munster Championships in Askeaton on May 6th & 7th followed by the Munster Grade 3 in Waterford on 28th of May. And them the Munster/Connacht Age Group on Friday 2nd June. Entry details on www.itsplainsailing/club/nnsc as always. There has been a noticeable progression in the numbers of swimmers achieving Personal Bests (PB’s) in events as the season has gone on – it would be great to see this continue as it just reward of the effort swimmers and coaches are putting in at training. After all, swimming an event faster than you have ever done it before is fantastic achievement, worthy of the highest praise

Our end of year social event for swimmers, siblings and parents is provisionally booked for Saturday 17th June returning to Derg Isle Adventure Centre. Last year was a great success with fantastic adventures on waterslides and canoes building great memories with a BBQ during the day. All members of Neptune families are welcome. Booking on itsplainsailing very soon.

New Members

Nenagh Neptune has gained 16 new members since Christmas and many of these swimmers are completing technique only sessions on a Wednesday. Our coaches are delighted with the attitude and positivity being shown by the new members and indeed by the welcome they have received from their swimming club teammates. It is expected that by next September all of the new members will be ready for full training. If any member of the public wishes to discuss membership for next season for their child, please email nnscchair@gmail.com or arrange to attend any training session to meet a member of committee or coaching team.

Lions Club Try-a-Tri

Nenagh Lions Club are organising their Try-a-Tri to raise funds for local charities on June 10th this year. We are encouraging Nenagh Neptune families to support this worthy cause which happens also to be great fun and challenge, we are also inviting any Relay groups who may be looking for a swimmer to complete a Relay Team to contact us. Email address above.
