Nenagh Éire Óg Camogie - Club Notes 21/09/2015

Under-8: We travelled to Ballina on Saturday to take part in a blitz. The girls had a wonderful day out. Thank you to our hosts for the great day.

Under-10: We made the trip to Boherlahan Dualla on Saturday to partake in their blitz and had a great day. Thank you to Boherlahan for their hospitality. We will take part in a blitz in Ballina this weekend. Mentors will be in touch with the details.

Under-14: We were defeated by Newport on Sunday in the Winter League and will play Eire Og Annacarthy in the next round on Saturday at 12 noon in Annacarthy. Management will be in contact with the details.

Junior: We face Holycross in the next round of the championship. This fixture is expected to take place on Sunday at 12 noon in Holycross. The girls have to win to have any hopes of progressing to the knockout stages.

Car Wash: We held a successful car wash on Sunday last in order to raise funds for the club. We wish to thank Keith Deane for allowing us use his facilities in Lyon’s Garage and we want to thank all the players involved, Mark Hassett, Mike Ryan, Seamie Morris, Noel Coffey, Kieran O Brien, Liam McGrath, Tom McAuliffe for washing the cars and all who got their car washed. If any girl has still not returned money please do so as soon as possible.

Flag Weekend: We will be having our annual flag weekend over the first weekend of October. This is a vital fundraiser for the club and if you would like to volunteer one hour of your time please contact Denise Morris or any committee member over the coming weeks.

All Ireland Minor Football Final: While it wasn’t a day to remember for the county’s minor footballers it was a very memorable day for Avril Dooley who presented the Tom Markham Cup prior to the game to the Croke Park officials. Well done Avril, we hope you had a fantastic day out.

Condolences: All in the club were saddened to learn of the passing of Eddie Connolly following a long battle with cancer. Eddie’s fight against his illness was inspirational and through the Score 4 Eddie campaign he managed to raise a significant amount of money for the Eddie Connolly Trust, The Friends of St Luke's Hospital and St James Hospitals. Our junior and minor teams took part in the Score 4 Eddie campaign last week and we would encourage all our players, members and supporters to contribute to this excellent cause by texting MATCH to 50300. We send our heartfelt condolences to the Connolly family, all his friends and the Loughmore Castleliney GAA club.
