He also directed his first fiction film, the quietly intense ‘Silence’in 2012.

At this screening in Nenagh, he will present some recent short films ‘What Remains’ and ‘Fathom’ and discuss how he goes about his craft. The event begins at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 5th. Admission is €5 per person. Booking on 067 34400 or online at www.nenagharts.com

The Nualas at Nenagh Arts Centre

‘Lock Up Your Husbands’ is the new show from The Nualas which drives into Nenagh Arst Centre in a most glamorous fashion this Saturday, March 7th. In what could be their most dangerous show ever, the three girls break the mould they made previously with a deluge of new songs, higher harmonies, different keys and slightly shorter dresses.

Expect new Nuala revelations, harder laughs, slicker riffs, and even heavier foundation wear, if that’s possible!  When this show pre-viewed  in Dolan’s of Leitrim at least three Gardai and a relationship counsellor had to be called. As part of their ensuing community service (six weeks scooping out litter from the Shannon) the girls were obliged by the judge, to call this sweltering new show: LOCK UP YOUR HUSBANDS. You have been warned.

Witness the mayhem at 9 p.m. on Saturday 7th March at Nenagh Arts Centre. Tickets are €18 or €16 concession rate. Booking from 067 34400 or online at www.nenagharts.com

Must-see dark comedy ‘Underneath’ comes to Nenagh Arts Centre

Following the runaway international success of ‘Forgotten’ and ‘Silent’, Fishamble Theatre Company brings Pat Kinevane’s third solo play, ‘Underneath’  to Nenagh Arts Centre on Sunday, 15th March.

This stunning new play is a blackly comic, rich and vivid tale of a life lived in secret, a testament to the people who live on the fringes, under the nose of everyday life. It explores the surface, and what lies underneath. Playing the central character, a woman struck by lightning as a girl whose life is subsequently shaped by the disfigurement, Kinevane said that the idea for the piece - was influenced by “the growing obsession in the world with the aesthetic of beauty”.

Kinevane brings his incredible physical presence and a lilting Cork voice to bring this drama to life. Poetic asides are combined with an stand-up comedy-like irreverence as the plot unfurls. It’s a  rich theatrical piece – a gothic comedy.

‘Underneath’ plays at Nenagh Arts Centre at 8 p.m., on Sunday, 15th March. Tickets are €15 from the Arts Centre on 067 34400 or online at www.nenagharts.com
