Last Saturday saw the return to competitive inter county action and a trip to the LIT Gaelic Grounds for Tipperary that resulted in a well-earned draw. There were some very good performances with all the players showing great commitment and enthusiasm. Given the fact that this was the players first game of the year they will be happy with the performance and result.
Following the full-time whistle, Tipperary’s Jason Forde was presented with the RTE Man of The Match award following his fine performance, finishing the game with of 14 points, while Borris-Ileigh’s Dan McCormack was awarded the Eir Sport Man of The Match award for his performance. It was confirmed on Monday that Bryan O’Mara who was injured during the course of the game, sustained a fracture to his arm and is expected to be out for between 4 to 6 weeks.
The focus for Tipperary now turns to next Saturday and a home game against Cork in Semple Stadium. There have been 64 previous League meetings between Tipperary and Cork. The Rebels lead the way with 31 wins to the Premier county’s 28 and there were 5 draws, The most recent year that the counties did not meet in the competition was 2008.
