MUNSER MINOR HURLING FINAL REFEREE

Congratulations to Fergal Horgan of Knockavilla Kickhams who has been appointed as referee for the Munster Minor Hurling Final between Limerick and Waterford on Sunday July 14 at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick. His linesmen will be John O’Brien (Arravale Rovers) and Anthony Sherlock (Kildangan). Since the minor hurling championship resumed in 1945, Tipperary have only failed to appear in either the Minor or Senior Final in the following years - 1966, 1972, 1977, 1979, 1994, 1995, 1998, 2010 and now 2013. The only previous Limerick v Waterford Minor final was in 1958 when Limerick (who had dethroned Tipp earlier in the Munster championship) won by 8-9 to 2-5 at Thurles. They also won the All Ireland Title that year. Never before hase there been a Munster Final day of Limerick v Waterford in minor and Limerick v Cork in senior.
