MINOR STAR AWARDS
Congratulations to Sean Phelan (Nenagh Éire Óg), Conor Whelan (Mullinahone) and James Devaney (Borris-Ileigh) all pictured right after receiving their 2018 Electric Ireland Minor Star Awards at a ceremony in Croke Park last Saturday.
COUNTY CLUB FIXTURES
There were super attendances at club fixtures last week as the various championships continue in determined march towards respective county finals.
One of the first finals down for decision was in the Tipperary Water Minor 'A' Football, where congratulations go to JK Brackens who fought right to the end to claim this year's title with a 3-9 to 1-13 victory over Cahir.
The venues of Nenagh and Dolla drew spectators in great numbers with attractive quarter-final double headers in the Tipperary Water County Senior Hurling championship. The results of these have laid the setting for the semi-finals which will take place in Semple Stadium on Sunday next, October 7th, where Clonoulty-Rossmore will meet Toomevara at 2pm and Nenagh Éire Óg playing Thurles Sarsfields at 3:30pm.
The Tipperary Water Seamus Ó Riain Cup Semi-Finals are also down for decision on Saturday next with a Mid double pairing in the Ragg between Moycarkey-Borris and JK Brackens at 2pm. Further up the road in Dolla the North pairing of Burgess and Templederry Kenyons meet at 2:30pm.
The two remaining Tipperary Water County Senior Football Championship Quarter-Finals took place last weekend also and resulted with the following semi-final pairings, Ardfinnan v Loughmore-Castleiney and Clonmel Commercials v Moyle Rovers. These semi-finals will take place on Sunday week, October 14th.
Following the results of the Tipperary Water County Intermediate Hurling Championship Semi-Finals, Cashel King Cormac's and Thurles Sarsfields will meet in the final also on Sunday week.
After last weekend's fixtures the finalists are known too in the Tipperary Water County Minor Hurling 'A' and 'B' Championships with a double header set for Leahy Park, Cashel on Saturday week. Drom & Inch will meet Knockavilla-Donaskeigh Kickhams at 2pm in the 'B' final followed by Cappawhite Gaels and Moycarkey-Borris in the 'A' final at 3:30pm.

The following fixtures draws were also made, firstly, the Tipperary Water Junior 'A' Hurling Semi Finals where Emly will meet Toomevara with Clonoulty-Rossmore taking on neighbours Boherlahan-Dualla. Fixture dates etc. to be made at the next CCC meeting.
Also, the second Tipperary Water Junior 'B' Hurling Semi Final was drawn which sees Cashel King Cormac’s and Mullinahone set to meet and again fixture details to be confirmed.

COUNTY TICKET WEEKEND PACKAGE
After the huge success of last weekend's county ticket package Tipperary County Board will again roll out a similar package for fixtures this weekend.
As mentioned, crowds flocked to venues in great numbers from last Tuesday and Tipperary Co. Board wish to acknowledge and appreciate the wonderful attendance of supporters at our county matches. Pictured left is a section of Sunday's attendance in Dolla.
Therefore, a weekend match pass for €20 entitles the holder access to all county adult games over the coming weekend. Clubs and supporters can buy tickets in Lár na Páirce during the week as well as at venues this weekend.
Please note also, like last weekend there is no limit on the number of county weekend match pass tickets available.
TIPPERARY GAA YEARBOOK
The 2019 Tipperary GAA Yearbook is being compiled at present and the Yearbook committee is seeking articles and information for inclusion. Clubs that have accomplished any unique achievement in 2018 such as winning a major title for the first time, achieving a double, opening new dressing rooms or a new grounds, etc. are requested to send through an appropriate article for inclusion.
The Yearbook committee are looking to all clubs to submit any obituaries of their deceased members in the last 12 months. The maximum number of words for an obituary is 150 and please include the club name and the years also, e.g. 1937-2018, as well as his/her G.A.A. achievements and a photograph of the deceased person.
The deadline for sending information is 1st November. Please e-mail information and photographs which must be named to John Smith, Secretary Tipperary Yearbook Committee at yearbook.tipperary@gaa.ie

POST PRIMARY ACTION
The Dean Ryan Cup (Under 16.5 A Hurling) 2018/2019 Quarter-Finals get under way this Tuesday October 2nd, with holders Thurles CBS first into the fray against Midleton CBS where throw in is at 1:30pm in Ardfinnan.
This Wednesday, October 3rd, at 12:30pm in Ballyhea, Nenagh CBS are the second Tipperary school into against as they line out against Hamilton High School, Bandon.
On Tuesday next October 9th, the final two quarter-finals take place with Our Lady’s Templemore meeting Scoil Na Trioniode Doon in Drombane at 1pm. The other fixture sees De La Salle Waterford v St. Flannan's in Boherlahan at 1:30pm.

The 2019 GAA Season tickets are now on sale and will once again provide fantastic value for supporters in next year's league and championship. Adult ticket will cost €120 and U16's €30. This will allow the ticket holder access to discounted tickets for the championship group stages in your code.
Benefits of the GAA Season Ticket include, access to an All-Ireland Final ticket (subject to meeting terms and conditions), AIB GAA club championship finals on March 17th, all Allianz league matches again in your code, including play offs, semi-finals and finals and also your county's opening championship fixture of 2019.
The Adult Club+ version ticket costs €200 and also includes club championships fixtures in the chosen county and a guaranteed All-Ireland final ticket should your county qualify, again terms and conditions apply.

BOOK LAUNCH
This Wednesday, October 3rd at 7pm, Cork University Press will launch a book entitled 'Sport In County Tipperary 1840-1880' by Pat Bracken in the Source Library. In his study of the development of sport in Co. Tipperary Pat looks at how the popularity of sport grew during this period, in what may be seen as a barometer county for the rest of the country. This is the first county study, which covers the famine period and in it, among other fascinating insights, Bracken challenges the perception that hurling was in decline in Tipperary before the foundation of the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1884.
To hear more of the way sport developed in Tipperary and how it was influenced you are invited to come along to the Source on Wednesday to capture a unique insight into sport during that period of time in Tipperary.
TABLE QUIZ
South Tipperary G.A.A Centre Western Road Clonmel will host a monster Table Quiz with prizes of over €1000. The quiz will of general knowledge and is aimed at attracting a total entry of 54 teams of 4 with an entry fee of €40 per team. Entries are now being invited and as the expectation is that our target of 54 teams will be met, prospective teams are now being invited to confirm their participation as without delay in order to avoid disappointment. The semi-finals will be run over 3 Wednesday nights in October and November with the final on Wednesday, 14th November as set out below.
Details of the quiz and ground rules are as follows; A representative from each team is invited to attend at the South Tipperary G.A.A Centre at 8pm on Wednesday,17th October to finalise matters and witness the draw for the 3 semi-finals from each of which the top 6 teams will contest the grand final. The semi-final dates starting at 8:30pm each night are as follows. (1) Wednesday, 24th October, (2) Wednesday, 31st October and (3) Wednesday, 7th November. The Grand Final as indicated will take place on 14th November.
The prize fund is made up as follows - winning team €480 plus a set of tankards, runners-up €200 and third place €100. The three semi-final winners will receive €80 per team. Please note that prize money will be reduced pro rata in the event that a full entry is not received
All competitions will be held in the South Tipperary GAA Centre and all are welcome. The event is being promoted by the centre as a fundraiser towards car park development at the venue.

SCÓR
The Scór season ahead will mark its golden jubilee and plans are already afoot to mark the occasion at all levels with concerts, exhibitions and souvenir programs and publications being mentioned. However all this will be for nought, if we fail to get the word out there that all this is happening and also fail to get people to participate and support our competitions in the coming year.
Clubs are requested to please make an extra effort in this jubilee year to make it a year to remember for Scór and to bring back some of the glory days to make this a Scór season not to forget.
SHANNON AIRPORT CUP INVITATIONAL
Following the success of last year's inaugural event between Clare and Limerick and due to several requests from neighbouring counties, event organisers Golf Voyager are pleased to announce that participants from Tipperary, Galway and Clare will join reigning champions Limerick for the 2nd Annual Shannon Airport Cup Invitational.
1991 Hurler of the Year, two time All-Ireland senior winner, 3 time Under 21 winner and recipient of three All-Star Awards, Pat Fox will lead a strong Tipperary team who will be keen to put Tipperary on the map just as he did back in 1987 when the famine was ended with that never to be forgotten Munster Final victory after 17 years. Ollie Moran will be leading the Limerick team as they look to retain the title. 2 time All-Ireland winning captain Anthony Daly will be looking to drive the Clare men victory while Peter Murphy is set to captain a strong Galway side which will include other former All-Ireland medal winners from the great Galway side of 1987 and 1988.
With limited places for all 4 counties and a max capacity of just 120 golfers, those wishing to take part should contact 061-514600 as this event is expected to sell out quickly.
The dates for The Shannon Airport Cup are Saturday, November 17th to Tuesday, November 20th, 2018. The golf will take place over 2 days (Sunday 18th and Monday 19th November) at Torrequebrada Golf Course, a venue that has hosted the Spanish Open.
The price is €385pp based on twin room sharing at the 4 Star Sunset Beach Club, Benalmadena. Flights are not included but are available with Ryanair from Shannon to Malaga.
